I don't think this group is good enough for top 4 finishes. What constitutes our current best 22 isnt good enough to win a flag IMO. Moving on the injured trio and maybe Owies, Carroll Kennedy etc, and adding Haynes doesnt move the needle one iota for us IMO.

We were 2nd with a few rounds to go in one of the closest seasons we've ever seen...

They are good enough, we will need to see what happens this off season, but they first and foremost need to buy in.

We need an injection of speed, agility, skill and more skill all over the ground. Next few trade periods are crucial, so let hope we have some luck. Lions have extremely lucky with father and son concessions 4 1st rounders a champion midfield over 2 seasons. They’ll be a super team for the next 5 years as their talent matures together.

Can we give the “we were 2nd on the ladder” BS a rest - Hawks were 13th - Brisbane was 13th while we were 2nd too, who the **** cares!

It’s where u finish that counts!
Being 2nd on 11-12 wins doesn’t mean anything if that doesn’t translate to 15+ wins and top 4.

Getting spanked by Hawthorn & losing to the Pies & Saints is a hell of a lot more relevant than “we were 2nd”

Being second and being “second seed” for much of the year absolutely matters. We have sufficient talent and preparation to be competitive with the best teams. Totally relevant.

Our inability to play out the year with our game plan at the required intensity is also absolutely relevant. We must find a sustainable model. We must absolutely significantly player availability and indeed health when they front up to play.

We have some significant gaps in the list, but theoretically, so does every other team. We need to “balance” our list. The thing is balancing our list means different things to different people. To some balance means adding more top end talent for immediate upgrade and return. For others it means long term planning. Having progression paths sorted, generally adding more pace, more run, better skills. There are so many layers and so many differing opinions as to how to get there.

There is no one right or even necessarily wrong answer. I am in the camp with a holistic view of balancing the now with the future, looking at sustained success, a dynasty. Is that achievable? I think so, many don’t. Many are all in for just one flag, sell the farm, to hell with future proofing the list, use all means possible to add proven, ready to go top tier talent.

Is one flag then returning to mediocrity preferable to ten years of finals, but struggling to get the job done?

Are our perceived small forward deficiencies really a major concern when we have our twin towers in the top echelon of goal kickers?

So the fact we were second for so long. Was purely a fluke, was it?

Expect a big bombshell to happen within the next week (not Joe Daniher related)
Can you do a nice Crippto Cryptic for us?
We're rather fond of them in the off season.
:sneaky:

check the results, the bye helped - we won 3 games in 6 rounds vs Tigers, North, Cats.
Our victory over the cats, we smashed 'em. Shows to me that we are close, very close to a bona fide top four side.

It all went pear shaped when most of our key personnel became banged up/needing a rest. They never got that rest.

M.C. seemed very reluctant to bring in younger players and those sore players just got sorer over the coming weeks.

Playing Charlie, week after week. Was very poor from the M.C. and the fact he was rolled out for the dawks game. Was

absolutely ludicrous. Maybe with the addition of Haynes and a couple of other mature, speedy types our list can be re-

invigorated. Hopefully Kennedy and Owies can find new homes, whilst both will be somewhat missed. This does need to

happen.
