Tackling machine? Only averages 3.71 tackles a game over his career..

Cripps - 5.91
Ed Curnow - 5.32
SPS - 4.47

It's almost half of some of the guys going around

Greenwood - 6.43
Zorko - 6.04
Willis - 7.67 (only 15 games)
Devon Smith - 7.79
Scott Selwood - 7.47
Shiels - 6.01
Oliver - 6.35
Graham - 6.54
Steele - 7.57

Cripps - Inside mid so at every stoppage
Ed Curnow - Inside mid so at every stoppage
SPS - Has played everywhere including inside mid, but tackling machine

Martin - played literally every non key position but inside mid (including backline), so hasn't had lots of opportunities to tackle, especially compared to an inside mid.

IMO he's best on a wing, so lets have a look at the tackling numbers of the best wingmen in the league over their career:

Gaff - 2.0
B. Hill - 2.2
Whitfield - 2.7
McCluggage - 3.0

Even if we consider him a half-forward, lets look at the averages for the best half forwards in the league:

Walters - 2.8
Papley - 3.4
R. Gray - 3.2

So looking at these numbers, averaging 3.71 tackles a game for his career is actually pretty good considering where he plays.

Yes, and all of them are pure inside mids (with the exception of Zorko arguably), so it's an unfair comparison.

Also most of these players are huge compared to Martin, of course they're going to be better tacklers.

I was mainly being facetious tbh, i just find the term tackle machine odd.

Jack Steele was 8.2, so if Martin is a tackling machine... what is Steele then? Some kind of enhanced tackling machine?

I can only presume you're trying to be objectionable.

No further comment from me - and the averages in your table only go to support my argument given his role.....do you have a picture of Greta T. on your bedroom wall?
