Just mentioned "preference to Carlton"

then back onto the whole "hes contracted, blah blah blah...." as you would expect.

Also made it pretty clear during the Daniher discussions that Essendon's comments around Daniher being a "valuable contracted player" are the norm in these situations and that they've made the same comments about their own players.

Pretty clear to me that all parties know Papley will get to Carlton and Daniher will get to Sydney, just a matter of each side playing the game to optimise what they gain/lose in the process.

Two quick clicks will get you to 'your content'. Pretty rich pickings there...

And what is it about Viney you like by the way? His speed? Damaging ball use? Versatility?

You want to see where a one paced group of inside mids gets us check out 17th on the ladder.
Yep. We were 4th in the league for clearances this season and 10th for contested possession numbers. I think some are getting confused by watching Crippa play the way he does and feel we need to rest him elsewhere on the ground. Won't actually help us win games though. Addressing our lower uncontested numbers and disposal efficiency might though.

Really doubt that Murph wants to move interstate just as the club comes good, he'll want, and deserves, to enjoy some success with this new generation.

Devil's advocate until some actual news drops - Murphy to Brisbane isn't something I'd be against if he wanted to entertain it.

Still a quality player, reckon we could swing something like Cutler and Pick 21 for Murph, then on-trade 21 for Martin. Leaves our future second intact which allows us to trade our future first without needing to do any pick gymnastics.

Papley for 9.
Martin and Cutler for Murphy.
Betts for peanuts.
?????? for our future first.
Draft with 41 and 46, upgrade Gibbons.

Talks of Murphy leaving, regardless of how ridiculous that proposition may be, are making me violently ill.

Fast forward to Friday please.

Today is the meet and greet day.

When teams walk in, SOS tells them to halve their first offer, remove the GST, and come back when they are serious about making a deal.

Trades went down instantly last year.

Harley trying to be "political" with his comments and doing a poor job of it. Stumbling through your interview and taking long "umm" breaks to formulate a non-committal response makes you look like a dishonest idiot.

Not sure why they can't just come out and say "We've been in contact with Joe for some time, and while we weren't actively trying to recruit him, we made it clear that if the time came that he needed a change of scenery that we'd be more than happy to welcome him into our club". More believable than "We didn't discuss a possible move to Sydney until last week".

Also claims there was no discussions with Joey about a move north until the last week or so, that their recent chats never ventured into trade discussion. Take it with a grain of salt.

He's a bare faced liar.

Did more ducking & weaving than Sugar Ray Leonard.

SOS saying 'there is no real interest in Dan Butler'

Tells me Papley and Betts are close to locked in. Reckon Butler took a back seat when we decided to recruit Betts, but may have still been an option if Papley fell through. If Butler is now shopping himself around to clubs like St Kilda it's because we've told him he might need to look elsewhere.

If that's the case, I hope we've identified one or two small forwards we reckon are gettable with our third round picks, we'll need to have someone ready to take over from Eddie as soon as 2021, and giving them a full year to learn from the great man before getting their senior debut would be ideal.

How can I enjoy Eddie day with this though of a Murph trade ruining my vibe!!
Need an ITK to squash this please...please...
