Seriously though - How much haggling is required.

You buy a house at auction within a few minutes but we need days to come to a figure that satisfies both parties?
I can't imagine how this would work. How many times would you want to be going back and forth on a figure?

Eg - is Riley Knight still a target.

Are we waiting to try and roll these into one transaction rather than use up 2 x picks?

Who knows Harks.

I suspect SOS has many balls in the air and is hedging his bets to see what else he can roll into various deals.

Sox on Cox?
The Red Hot Chilli Peppers are playing at next year's BnF??

Hilarious, but I thought you were going down the Dr Seuss route.

Prat in the Hat also works for ^^^

I really like Hately but reckon he's the heir apparent to 29yo Ward. They'll see him and Hopper as the inside workhorses for the future.

Caldwell behind Kelly, Coniglio & Taranto as inside/outside mids. Whitfield and Williams the outside runners.

Bonar appears more inside than out and might be behind both Hately & Caldwell so he's the one of the 3 that might be obtainable without paying through the teeth.
Not certain about Bonar, prior knee injuries aside, he seems a good athlete first and foremost, not a natural footballer with keen IQ and accrue kick. The later is whom every team pdesperately needs.

I too have a story. Not long ago, I asked one of the older blokes st work, to head out and buy a new drill set and have him the credit card, at the end of the day, he came back with the kit and a smile on his face.

He said he went to 5 different shops after seeing the price was different at all the stores and got the kit for a ripping price, he thought he’d saved the company $250.

The guy spent the best part of a day, going from store to store, in an effort to save $250.

We charge him out at $130ph.

The point: If you know what you want and you know a fair price, get the job done, you then open up yourself for increased productivity and the possibility to find other bargains.

Irrelevant analogy?

You're assuming we're spending all our time chasing a way to get a better deal on Betts, when the reality is that we'd be looking at other deals for players/picks, in case we can use the change from those to make the Betts deal better.

We've presumably got a deal done, in principal, and both sides are happy to let it sit a little longer in case an opportunity comes up to work it into a bigger deal. Or, as suggested elsewhere, the clubs are still hashing out the money. Either way, we're not missing out on Eddie, we're not running up any more of a bill on our recruiting team's wages, there's just no rush for either side to lodge the paperwork immediately given this deal isn't going to act as the first domino for anything else.

But sometimes a bargain is exactly that.

I have wanted a Breville Barista Coffee machine and had been checking prices for some time. Then Harvey Norman advertised it at $649 (cheapest price I'd seen) and were offering a carton of Wolf Blas wine as well valued at $300. Checked the Wolf Blas website and found that it was indeed a $300 carton so went into the store and found the price dropped to $599. Hard to resist a coffee machine for $299.

The wine was better than the coffee I made but working hard on the latter and the only added cost (I have no charge out rate) was $1 for fuel and a significant increase to the exercise regime working off the wine and coffee induced weight gain.

I’ve heard directly from a list manager that Essendon and Dodoro are in fact very keen on Papley and Papley is open to going there. Not saying our ITKs are wrong ... clearly, just saying there is opposing talk out there in the corridors or Marvel stadium

I just asked his partner (she was the one who told me about him nominating us that I posted on the Drafts Board etc).

He's not going to Essendon.

I man really bothered by Terry’s lack of.....knowledge. Not being sarcastic
Or smart. Some of these guys are truly terrible. M Lloyd. No idea. The one that actually impressed me is Dal Santo. He’s worth listening to. Much of the rest is crud.

HAHA haven't heard the word "crud" in years, takes me back.

Has the mega deal and betts happened yet? If it’s all done why are we waiting to get piped on the line by * or dawks
This is what concerns me as well.. I’m hoping the deals have been agreed in principle and now it’s all the little details being discussed.. I would be disgusted if we lost Papley and Martin

SOS is getting Wines thrown in cheaply?

:)

Can't stand Bob Murphy
I also don't rate him so highly. Not that I can't stand him, I like him as a person and loved him as a footballer, but as a media personality I think he falls really short of the mark.

He does mumble/talk quietly and often tries to talk about football in these abstract and philosophical tones that is just a bunch of nonsense most of the time.

I think the deals are done in principle and we are now just waiting for Dodoro to confirm whether he is involved by trading pick 37 for 36 or 38. Shouldn’t be long now.

Not to mention *’s first pick is 29 this year.

Sydney won’t even be interested in dealing with them. They want a sure top 10 pick than an unsure of draft position in 2020.

The likely scenario is that the deals have been agreed in principle with Sydney and Gold Coast, and what Carlton will now be doing is exploring deals with other clubs to see how they can shuffle things around to gain value, and provide the agreement with those clubs. It's good business. It doesn't matter if the deals get done today or next week... it's not like they need to be ready to pull on a jumper to play this weekend.
