Mate they are already calling us the new Fremantle on the radio, the team that chases targets and fails, no matter how you twist it this is not good for the CFC, we where on a steady rise in public perception, on and off field, and this has knocked us hard. While it is far from the end of the world it is a very bad result for the footy club, and the recruiting team as a whole will have to answer to the board who will not be happy with how this has played out.

We look awfully slow on the field with the list. Quick teams will shred us next year but I have faith Teague can put some things in order to improve our W/L ratio to a respectable level.

Yes but it wasn't to be for one reason or another, instead we'll go to the draft and add another talented youngster to the mix and maintain a reasonable hand for the next trading period where we may have a bit better luck.

Anyone trying to put a positive spin on Trade week is deluded. A complete disaster. Too much focus on Papley and Martin at the expense of a lot of real bargains other clubs received. I genuinely hope Betts gives us something next year but as far as I am concerned watching him this year, he is done.

I must admit people cracking the sads because we didn't get rid of a top ten pick in the process of overpaying a dumpster club in GC is a little funny.

Pick 9 can still fill a need.

It's a great pick. Another mid there or there are a couple of decent small forward/mids in that range as well.

Papley wasn't doing a lot to raise our age profile for 2020 anyway. Weiters, Charlie, Harry, JSOS and Cunners all turn 23 next year. We are aging and developing naturally. Our window is huge.

For every socialist action there are consequences. Everything run on socialist principles have favoured groups/teams/individuals, and others that are outside the loop suffer as a consequence.


The AFL with its socialist fiefdom spread out in front of it has to benefit the teams they want to see progress. And at the top of the list is ...you guessed it Gold Coast.

They want them to get better and the teams around them on the ladder have to suffer as a consequence.

Gold Coast is no longer in great need of new draft picks as you guessed it the AFL has already given them a whole swathe of picks - 4 in the top 20- thank you AFL!

Carlton would have to sell the farm to get Martin as Gold Coast is already in a strong position with draft picks. They can make Carlton squirm.

If Gold Coast redraft him, he would become the highest paid player at the Gold Coast for one year, then become a restricted free agent at the end of the year. The plan would be to put $1million plus on his head, moving him out of Melbourne's reach. Draft him at #3 in the PSD then renegotiate his contract for multiple years, which would reduce the actual money paid, but the million would still count on next year's cap, where we have the space due to paying under the cap for a number of seasons. Hope that made sense.

It's not so much what we missed that worries me. We had a guy in Martin who we actively recruited and got him to nominate us. That in itself was a big step for the club considering where we've been. The worrying part is that other players going forward may look at us as a club who can't get it done.

Wow, what an over-reaction! We haven't stuffed up. If you try your hardest and it doesn't come off it's not your fault. We tried but others didn't want to come to the dance. Gold Coast wanted too much for a player we can probably get in the PSD and Sydney were never going to come to the party if they didn't get Daniher. What more could we have reasonably offered? I still trust SOS.
