OK how does this work, if a player wont sign a contract, is he a delisted free agent or does he have to go into the draft?

Would probably have to go to the draft, well at least based on this..

Players delisted by a club are unrestricted free agents but a player who retires or delists himself is not eligible to be a free agent.

Was hoping at least one of Martin or Papley wpuld get done today. Hopefully the delay is just to add to the drama tomorrow...

I thought - like Lyons last year - a player can choose to delist themselves and sign a DFA contract? Or does club have to sign off on it?

I'm not entirely sure what the official clarification from the AFL around Lyons was.

I do know that you only qualify to be taken as a DFA if you aren't offered a deal by your club. Otherwise, players would just refuse new contracts and walk for nothing to their new teams as DFA's.

Only a guess, but I think it's Sam Murray.

He was pretty disgruntled about being cut by Collingwood after being allowed to return by ASADA when they kept on the other drug takers.

He would qualify as a DFA.

Right age profile, brings run and carry off the HBF.

The AFL ask GWS if they want first crack at them, then offer GCS and if they pass them up then AFL advise the player about their options from there...
