Just like to thank Aphrodite and the other Carlton mods who started the Bluemours NON Discussion Thread and who have kept it free of chat over the past few years.

It helps so much when you just don't have the time to read through this thread, cheers and great job.

I was a Suns member who frequented all their games until last year (health put an end to that). But I still watch all of their games.

Little to no impact at the stoppages.

Doesn't win his own ball as much as you'd like.

His game is predominantly based on meters gained and score involvement. He's been the guy the inside mids extract to.

If he's available based on his 2020 output then he's a steal. If they still value him on his 2019 season then they're over-valuing him.
Yup, we have enough outside mids that the likes of Cripps, Setters, and Kennedy can extract to. If he comes cheap enough... deal, otherwise, walk away!

He has been on an AFL list since 2012 and has had one season where he has missed less than 5 games. He has also had 3 seasons without playing a single game. As a soon to be 27 year old these should be enormous red flags

How many players who have missed so much footy due to injury suddenly become durable in the latter years of their careers? These players also don't age well in terms of on field impact due to the accumulated impact of the mass of injuries they've suffered
If each major injury was a clear consequence of the other, I'd agree with you.

Otherwise, I direct you to one Marc Murphy.

The fact he hasn't said it publicly means nothing. More than anything Cripps craves success, that is what drives him. He won't just hang around until close to the end of his career if he doesn't see some real improvement. Next year is critical in that regard.
If there's no finals appearance next year I'd think he'll go.

He's said publicly numerous times he's not going home.

So your gripe with Viney is that you are concern about his pay grade. What do you suggest we do with us having to spend 105% capped?
Re-sign Williamson and Cripps, just like how we've re-signed Docherty.

Chase Merrett, Saad, a chunk of GWS' midfield, Bontempelli. Hell, we could check in with Joe Atley, who is a DFA and has similar attributes.

Even so I would suggest Viney would be a top 10 player with our current list.
Beyond defensive application, I'd barely call him a top 10 midfielder for us, as he's not even an upgrade on Ed.

We've got Philp; we're choc full of inside midfield options already, so unless he's coming in at well under $500k, I don't see the point. He's not displacing our starting midfield options without costing us an opportunity to add elite pace and skill to the outside mix.

No need for Viney, we've already got Philp.

Righto, I'm out.

Lol

Harry, Charlie, TDK, Levi.

We are going to struggle to fit them as it is. Ideally we would transfer Jack's heart into Gov's body, but we have to accept that Gov has just been horribly out of form. He is a better mark, quicker and a much better shot for goal. Just needs to get his head right.
Understand what your saying on Mcgovern but a player on a 5 yr multi million $ contract has no excuse for not having his head right and being unfit .
The pandering to Mcgovern since arriving at Carlton has been pathetic .
Whilst players with lesser talent bleed blue and put there bodies on the line time after time are on the outer (Simpson and Jack) this bloke gets a free pass .
Can also throw Murphy in that category signed to another 1 yr contract , really starting to turn me off the CFC .

Aaron Keating, Ivan Soldo, Matt Spangher, the list goes on

It always makes me laugh when people say 'player x won't be part of our next premiership team'. Lots of very average footballers have played a role as part of the 'bottom six' in premiership sides.

Mitch Morton, Jacob Townsend....

According to Sam Edmund "Jack Graham remains “legitimately torn” on whether to stay at Punt Road or take up an offer from Carlton".
Makes no mention of * or Adelaide who were the other rumoured interested clubs.

'He likes what the Blues have sold to him'

I wonder if that includes the chance to be one of 7 players from the 2016 draft crop, and one of 16 from the 3 drafts from 2015 to 2017. Not a bad core group of players who will mature at the same time. Plus Cripps, Doch & Williams who are stars with at least 4-5 years of high level football left in them. Pretty attractive proposition for a 22 year old I would reckon. Oh yeah, and then there's the coin 🤑

I never said he didn't say this publicly, it doesn't change the fact that if he doesn't actually think success is coming he's most likely gone. Nobody doubts he wants success at Carlton, I think you're both missing the point. He will leave if he thinks that success won't come.

You haven't rebutted what I've said.

I'd argue that we are two midfielders short. One inside and one outside.

The club clearly doesn't see Cunners as an outside mid and more of a flanker (a real shame that Arr0w has hit the nail on the head so often that the nail is dead).

We're flying when Jack Martin can get the ball from the extractor but when he's out that really stops our run. He needs someone to help him so he's not exhausted come the grind later in the game.

If we could get a Viney and a Fiorini to go with Zac Williams and Saad (if the price is right) we'd have the best off-season in club history (draft aside).

Hearing we’re interested in Nakia Cockatoo for the right price and that the Brisbane connection not set in stone just yet.

Same source also says Betts has a real hit list and Rankine sits atop it. Not likely to result in anything this year, but we’d be willing to pay the expected price.

Massive no thanks to Viney. We don't need a small, one dimensional plodder to add to our midfield.

Jack Graham makes way more sense. At least he is a man mountain. Also comes from a winning culture.

I'll spew if we pay up for Viney. Yuck.

181cm, 82 kg man mountain? Jesus

Fair enough - Williamson and Cripps should be re-signed.

Even then you still need depth good depth players.

Merret - Unlikely.
Saad - Doesn't fill the midfield issue.
GWS Midfield - Possible - Unless Taranto/Kelly have stated they want out they seem unlikey.
Bont - Yea goodluck with that.
Atley - Unproven at Elite level.

Ed isn't going to be around in 3 years unlike Viney.

We have bunch of unproven inside mids, there is no issue in getting Viney in and pushing the youth out for depth. If Dow, OBrien, Kennedy, Philip, Kemp and Stocker show better performance than Viney I agree, but they haven't. Get them in the VFL develop them and make Viney look redudant.

If Eddie can get Rankine to the club, his statue will be fast-tracked.

Need to revert back to tattoos my friend, was a lot more catchy...

Didn't realise 5'11" and 82kg was a 'man mountain' territory. Guess that makes Cripps the entire Himalayas?

Graham is all of 3cm and 1kg bigger than Viney. It's hardly a notable difference.

Looks like Eddie has already helped get us Zac Williams this year.

Not surprised Rankine's atop the list. Could see that a mile away with their interaction when we played the Suns in Darwin. Rankine looked like he was visiting Santa Claus and Eddie was in awe of his favorite kid.
