I hope Williams works out in the midfield, say he doesn't and adding Saad that's a lot of money spent on two half back flankers.
Still don't understand the need for Saad in any sense, when the backline is not our deficiency.
Would rather us target small forward/ goalkicking mid.

Everyone that wins these days are teams that transition off half back via turn over. Look at saints tonight. Everything went through Howard, Carlisle and coffield/long. We have the talls to intercept we just need the run off half back. SPS is not it (side story - but will he survive on our list if isn’t part of the transition) but Saad and Williams will be involved in EVERY chain.

The same hardball tactics that have seen 6000 days without a finals win. He has been there for each of those days.

That's the longest streak in the 120+ plus year of the competition

Surely that can't be correct. I know Hawthorn took over 30 years in the VFL to make their first final

Our backline is very one paced. Saad's blistering pace gives us something different. More potential to break lines, get out of trouble and score quickly from transition.

You're on the money though with Williams. If it doesn't work out in the midfield, we'll have a lot of money tied up in three half backs (Docherty, Saad and Williams).

Goal kicking midfielders are extremely hard to find. Will need to hit the draft for that and take one of Hollands, Bruhn or Perkins.

As for small forwards, there isn't a lot on the market at the moment. Will have to keep an eye out late in the trade period to see what comes up. Lonie and Langdon will probably be the best options. Developing Narkle as a small forward is another option.

Is it run we need or is it quick transition
The ball travels quicker when kicked than someone running with it

You're not comparing the same thing. With Hawthorn you're talking about how many years for them to play their first final/win their first final, with Essendon it's time elapsed from their last finals win.

not directed towards you you specifically JK, just a general comment.

I’m pretty sure if he stays it’ll be for reasons that make sense to him and are both nobodies business and not for critique. Unless we’re all happy to put our career choices on display here for the peanut gallery to review.
Agree but can’t go shopping yourself around saying you’re concerned about the club direction and coaching etc..... oh but by the way you match the Carlton offer and Im on board....

Does Saad have the nous & ability to play on ball ?

Would like to see Dow & LOB rise to the Clark & Coffield level (+ Paton). CFC draftees that get us to finals, we have enough that should be able to string it together.
Naughton & Richards also out there today from 2017.
Higgins & Balta**
Allen, Ryan & Kelly
Rayner, Bailey & Starcevich
+ Dockers Brayshaw & Cerra really putting it together

We could have taken Coffield, Cerra at the Dow pick. Don’t blame development , they just aren’t as good. My mate who watches the draft closely said he wouldn’t have even rookie listed O’Brien. Unfortunately sometimes you can’t teach someone not to be scared.

Wondering if there is any update on our coaching staff?
Plenty of other non-finals teams have announced assistant coaching moves, and haven’t heard even a rumour about ours.

We sacked ours pretty early

Well don’t tell Melbourne.
Maybe they’ll swap him for Spargo ...
