I honestly am very reluctant to part with our first round pick in 2021, unless we are assured we are getting a top 25 player (ish) player back in return..

I do realize the club is having a fair crack at it and trying to bring in as much established talent as possible, I still think we need to try keep our first pick next year in the bank, if only as collateral for any potential OOC stars coming out of contract or interested in joining us at the end of 2021.

Or we can use it for another quality kid.

I have no doubt Essendon have buyers remorse when they gave up way too much for Dylan Shiel

As good as the news has been thus far I'm really dreading trade week knowing we have to deal with dodo. The very best case scenario is he accepts a deal with 5 minutes to go.

He'll start by asking for Curnow and 2 first round draft picks and the petulant stupidity will proceed from there.
... after which we then proceed to say, "We're happy to take your calls when you're willing to be reasonable. If you're not going to make an offer we can both accept, we will take him in the preseason draft. 7's not going to be involved with it, players aren't going to be involved with it. You can ask us for picks, and we will do out utmost to work with you and others to make sure you're fairly remunerated, but if you try to win this trade, we're happy to avoid dealing with you altogether.

All the best for the rest of the trade period."

And it's done. Don't need to worry about it. Ball's in their court.

Gotta say I love that Teague seems able to attract players to the club. It's a great sign.

Hope we don't go for DeGoey. Seems like the type of guy who will drop off a cliff at 26 (Jake Stringer-ish). And we really need to focus on that 1 more midfielder with good disposal (i.e. not Oliver).
I too hope we don't go for De Goey, but Oliver would be bloody amazing for us.

Look at it this way: if all Oliver does is handpass to Martin, Cuningham or SPS, that's +5 possessions to each player. Imagine how damaging Martin would be averaging 21 possessions, SPS averaging 20.9 possessions, Cuningham averaging 17.9 possessions.

Right now, they're getting fed by a single source, or getting the thing themselves and have to find a way clear. Oliver means they're already clear when they get it.

Wouldn't be surprised if some of the AFLW players ask to be traded, were deGoey recruited.

It's not just the sexual assault stuff (which is enough of red flag for me first and foremost) but JDG clearly has a problem with alcohol and discipline, how many times has he been busted for drink driving and or speeding?

He is a very talented player yes, but really there is no substitute for good character these days, and I greatly fear he would be a very negative/disruptive influence on our kids/younger and impressionable players.

Brendon Bolton pretty much sacrificed his long term coaching career by getting rid of the trouble making and party boy culture that had been rife at this club for many years and for that I will always really admire Bolts and be grateful to him.

We cannot afford to slip back into bad habits by recruiting someone as troubled and with as much baggage as JDG. And I am confident that Teague and the brains trust at the club would agree with me.

Reckon next years first and if we split this years 1st, one of those picks too.
Wait until the end of the trade period, see what other clubs have got in the way of future second round picks, and split our 2021 first for 2 2021 seconds, offer the filth one of the firsts we split pick 7 for and one of the traded seconds, and our second next year.

Would have the AFL scratching their heads going "HUH"

so envy you , one of my biggest band regrets , not seeing this man .

Used to manage a pub up in northern NSW. Had my playlist playing and got talking to a patron one night last year when Jeff was coming through the speakers - she had actually met him at a bar in Europe. I was pretty astounded - as I said to her, he is not a person that you ever hear of having met anyone!

De Goey is suffering from the ATLANTA syndrome.

Acting Totally Like A Non-Thinking arseh*le.

By time trade period starts I'll be mentally exhausted

I am already exhausted by refreshing this board several times a day and to think we might not get another pre-FA/trade period nomination and I will still be refreshing for the next two weeks.

This is off topic but do any of you hate the cats more than the pies? I for one cannot stand the cats and hope Collingwood win tomorrow night lol
Nope... I want the Wobbles to lose big time!
