Dodo is already doing Dodo things behind the scenes. If you thought of the most ridiculous trade demand for Saad possible, you’d need to double it to get close to his opening demand.

You’d be tearing your hair out if you’re an Essendon fan and this bloke is running the show.

Don’t mind it, Saad will now understand when it goes very deep into the last day why we are not willing to trade.
Pick 27 and a sweetener, take it or leave it Dodo, good luck with ferals if you don’t

It's called rehabilitation. Everyone can then embrace the journey, not just the squeeky clean.

You just dont get it. Even if he is totally innocent, if we are seen to be actively pursuing somebody with this sort of charge, because he's a great footballer, and ignoring the seriousness of the charge - especially a charge that contradicts our whole public cause, would be outragous.

It would be a different story if he was already part of our club and was charged, yes we would rally, support and rehabilitate etc. but actively seeking this out...?

No, brilliant when on song, but is inconsistent and goes missing for long periods in a game. How many goals has he kicked this year compared to other small forwards?

Playing as a small forward in Essendons forward line would have been tough this year. At his best he is very very good.

Criminal pasts is not the issue. The Specifics ARE. If you are actively selling a message 'Carlton Respects' and condeming domestic violence etc., how do you justify seeking out or signing a player currently charged with Sexual Assault, who is yet to face court (especially if found Guilty)?

Every single person involved and promoting the cause, not to mention what our women's team would think, would be justifiably outraged.
Don't get me wrong, I would love to have DeGoey our team if not Guilty, but this is in direct contrast to our supposed values.

Spin it anyway you want, but this is not a good look for our club.

On the bolded:

Which is why Tim Watson started the rumour.

DeGoey is not going anywhere. Everyone knows that.

Dodo's obviously just going to stall everything, acting in bad faith until he is convinced that he has no choice.

A dumb person's idea of a strategist

Walk Saad to the PSD and let Dodo explain to his fans why they didn’t get a pick for him. I won’t hold it against Austin if we miss out.

Mitch Duncan please, perfect fit for where we are now. Gives Kemp, Stocker and Dow the time to grow into best 22 midfielders.

Runs both ways, accountable and creative. Been begging for a Mitch Duncan type for about 3 years on the game day around the grounds threads.

Always been given the least credit at the Cats, they don’t win when he is not there or plays poorly. Allows the superstars to hunt the ball.
And there would be the added bonus of hearing Whateley actually bleating like a sheep until he ran out of breath and collapsed.
No offence SheepHead, love yr work.

The public links to De Goey are concerning - now that serious journalists are running with it (as well as the smoke that has been bubbling around the traps over the past week or so) the club needs to come out and publicly refute the speculation, in my opinion.

The fact is, he has been charge with indecent (sexual) assualt and his trial is pending. I'm in no position to make judgment on his case, guilty or innocent, nor on his playing future once the trial is resolved. I don't dispute his club and the AFL (who are both likely privy to more information than is public) supporting him, nor do I have access to any of the facts.

But to me, pursuing a player who has been publicly charged with sexual assault (or even allowing media figures to publicly speculate on us pursuing him) sends a very clear and disappointing public message that we are ignoring the 'charge' and what it represents because he is a good football player. Out of respect to the (alleged) victim, and to others who have been the victims of sexual assault, I think the club owes it to them to, at least, wait until the trial is resolved.

If that means missing a chance at De Goey, then so be it. Some things are more important than getting a good player to your football club. There's other fish in the sea, and clearly we're not struggling to attract good players at the moment, and this one just simply isn't necessary. Even the speculation hurts the club and I think we should shut it down immediately
Youre right, the only thing is that this matter is from 2015 and was resolved to the satisfaction of all parties in 2018 and involved police. Now, he has since been charged. Its all a bit strange but as you alluded to, it's not a good look to be drafting a player on indecent assault charges.

Can only assume he’s demanding straight swap for Walsh 🙄🙄🙄
