Our midfield woes are more structure and system based, rather than talent. It's a coaching issue (not only Teague, Barker and Stanton as well). But we had some good young mids coming off good pre-seasons and we slaughtered them once the season actually started. Thankfully Dow has finally got a proper go at it.

Aside from Walsh, Cripps, and Ed Curnow (to an aging degree) who else do we have that has proven they can stand up to 22 rounds of home and away football at an average or above AFL standard?

I'm not pro or anti Clarko, but imagine if he came on board and Teague was happy to stay on as forward coach?
Clarko - head coach
Teague - forward coach
Power - midfield coach
??? - defensive coach

Sad to say I don't see that ever happening. Can't have an ex boss remaining in a lower capacity.

People talk about on field is the most important aspect of a club, which I totally agree, but same people still focus on what goes on at board level, which is staggering

Board members don't kick, mark, or develop gameplan and tactics
Nieve at best Arrow. It all starts with the board. How can you have a high functioning organisation with a dysfunctional leadership. Within any setting you get the executive function nailed and the rest will follow. Until this dawns on Carlton / any poor performing organisation it will be a tough climb to the top.

She gets attacked because she breaks stories clubs don't want leaked and stands up for herself when attacked by the clubs/individuals, at which point other media people attack her because they believe the clubs statements, not hers.
Only thing I have against her is she's a bloody tiger - and I have a natural hatred for bipedal tigers! ( as we all should )

That's not a rumour, that's just an opinion.

One I would happily bet my house on though.

His management would have been sounded out by at least 2 clubs (us and the Pies) and also likely by the AFL (in co-operation with the Suns). We know that has happened (those clubs would be negligent if they haven't).

Offers were made, for big bucks at at least three clubs, he considered those offers in light of being stuck at the Hawks for a year doing a job he really didnt want to be doing, and after getting shafted by a club he stuck by, made the call this week, and notified the club last night.

They then raced out the 'statement' this morning.

Literally the only reason he walks out on the club with 4 rounds to go is if he has agreed to coach elsewhere. It's then a conflict for the club, and he gets booted straight away.

The deal is all but done already. He'll have a handshake 'in principle' agreement in place with the destination club already.

It's probably the Gold Coast, but Carlton are my second guess.

It'll probably leak who within the next few days. If it's us, and Teague has a shocker tonight, we'll know on Saturday.

Yeah as soon he wasn't being renewed for 2023 every club with a coach out of contract in the next 18 months would have picked up the phone to his manager.

My view was that once he had an agreement with a club from 2023 onwards his manager tells the Hawks, then Kennett would want him out of there ASAP even if no internal strife. Then the club in question says OK we'll take you in 2022 bye bye current coach.

Didn't someone post that Teague had been tapped already?

Peggy O"Neals own words.

The board has since engaged an ethicist on decision-making and ensuring the club’s culture reflects a collective ownership of “the way we do things around here”.
“The board’s role is always to set the example,” says O’Neal. “Not just by personal behaviour, that’s important, but by the engagement with management, by how they treat issues that arise.”

They then went and appointed Neil Balme as Chief of football operations.
I agree with her culture starts at the top and filters down.

And Cats, WC, Dogs, Swans, did the adopt the same mantra

How do you know its dysfunctional? 2 creditable ITK has also quashed the sentiment of it being dysfunctional

Is this "feel" of the board being dysfunctional based on current win/loss? If so, as I suspect, how would the current board be viewed if we had 2 extra wins and sitting in the 8 right now?

It's not that they've proven it, but we've got young mids who have proven that they've got talent, but have been poorly coached, both in the way we coach our structure, and then play them out of position.

If we had a good structure, and it was just that our young players were not capable of performing, you could blame the list. But we haven't even given them a chance.

Teague signed up for the big bucks and the big chair. He knew what he was getting himself into. Simply corporate politics. Thus the financial incentive a role like this attracts.

Regardless of how much money he is getting, I still think Teague is/has been treated shabbilly.

I blame the board for this shemozzle of a scenario, even if we won all our remaining games, Teague still probably won't be coaching us next year. This whole review is simply passing the buck/covering their own asses when Teague inevitably gets the chop.

Bitterly disappointed with the lack of decisive leadership by Mark Logiudice over this, really left a black mark on his tenure as President imo.

Look obviously the days of an autocratic Presidenr and board run by a Jack Elliott type is well and truly gone the way of the Dodo, but right now it feels like the whole club from board level downwards is run by pencil pushing bureaucrats and probably decisions like going to the toilet have to be voted on by a committee.

A decision needs to be made next week whether Teague is staying on as coach or not, if he is not our guy, fine, but make sure he is given the dignity and respect Bolton got when we sacked him.

No more dilly-dallying or keep delaying a decision.
Can't be good for the players with this level of uncertainty either .

They would not need to i am assuming they already have culture. I am starting to think you are Mark LoGiudice . You certainly think like them. We can do know wrong do not blame us lol.

COVID affected season, but going in to this year you could have said Will Setterfield. Which probably raises more questions than answers...

Hodge....defensive coach.
Mentored for a few years under Clarko.

Once a decision is made either way (to keep Teague or cut him loose at season's end), it is much better for all involved.
I could be wrong but Teaguey's last couple of post match pressers suggest to me that he knows he'll be somewhere else next year. And if that's the case I sincerely wish him the best.

If we do end up getting Clarkson I don't bloody want to see Sicily or Wingard anywhere near our club.

Edited for accuracy.

I can't seen Joffrey K and Clarkson ever catching up for a coffee or beer again, it's the potential of Clarko bring over some of his spuds from Hawthorn if he becomes our coach that worries me.

Who says the decision hasn't already been made?

That's the thing. No one reallu knows. You keep hearing conflicting reports in the media (such as the club seeking out Leppitsch to potentially be an senior assistant to Teague next season etc)

Hypothetically if a decision has been made and we (God Willing) smash St Kilda tonight, does the board still come out next week (after the review is done) and say Teague won't be coaching us next year?

My opinion still stands but I concur with your amendments! I wasn't aware they had a falling out? - I'm so one-eyed I only really read about us tbh, and sometimes the Dees.
