A lot of talk is about how we've lost out on first-round pics, given we've had so many. Leaves a legacy, an unpleasant one.
The lingering question remains, is he done? or is he frustrated and lost motivation because of it? He hasn't always been Sh1t and I do remember a time when Weitering was persistently disinterested to the point the same questions were being asked.
Some kids come on later, that's just how it is. Sam Walsh is not the measure of all young ones. That kid is in a universe of his own.
If we're not 100% on him, it's better to wait until the development review is done, he's assessed, and it either goes into him both mentally and physically, or we move on. Young players are assets, poor development is a liability to those assets. We've been an accumulator of expensive speculative assets for far too long. We need to grow our own, properly.
Yeah why not, let's play another player in the 1s who doesn't deserve it. I'm sure the likes of Honey, Carroll and Ramsay would just love that
There's a line I reckon. The way some people talk about our players, who are human beings, makes me shudder sometimes.

It's not the senior coach's job to develop players, is it? Why do we have development staff and a second tier team if players need to be developed in the senior team?
Being gifted those 35 games early in his career may have done more harm than good to his development as a player. Not everyone's a Sam Walsh who is ready to go from day one.

To quote the Manic Street Preachers "if you tolerate this then your children will be next".
He's what, 21? Our club has had notoriously shithouse development over the past few years, a shithouse culture, and players being played out of their natural positions. Some people being absolutely gifted games and others who can't get a look in.
I reckon he deserves a clean slate and a chance.
ETA: and the way people have spoken about Cas recently is disgusting.

I would venture to say that a certain percentage here..have to have something or someone to be negative about....win two games in a row it gets harder...so now the young lad O'brien cops it...all silly and pointless...and the argument that it's a forum so anything goes is just a weak excuse for being needlessly nasty under the auspice of anonymity

Not sure about that. I posted a coupe of weeks ago that Dow/LoB/SPS should get a block of 7-8 games to give them the opportunity of showing playing in their natural position (we certainly havent done that with SPS) that they are starting 22 players. I suspect it is very unlikely the club will go down this path.

On LOB I can see him being given the Kennedy option, dropped to the rookie list and prove your worth.

Will play out Ace. Interesting to see his reserves output in next couple of weeks . Lob has to cream and rise . It’s all on him really . Dow , stocks , Owies and Bam Bams resurgence in the ones is telling.
