Milburn had to get a police escort out of the ground because there were dead set a large group of supporters waiting to line him up.

Love that tribalism part of the game. He took out our favourite son, then drew the rage of the crowd by clapping to us.

I was 11 years old at the time but dead set can't remember another time I've been at a sporting match and thought a full blown riot was about to occur

I was a teenager, about 30m from the bench. The atmosphere after that incident was seriously like get Milburn out of the ground ASAP.

Yeah, if he's coming it'll be for a flag or two or three. ;)

Very strange for GWS to agree to 8 years at 8 million, he's good but he's not that good.

That would be interesting, still convinced Teague's got it? Imo if he's coming it'll be for coach on a mega-deal of 3-4 years.
Our North and Suns results have certainly wilted my conviction about Teagues position. He's probably cactus, but I'm warming to the idea of Clarko being DoC.

Who would you be choosing Jim? And why? Cheers
I'm too removed from the action to pick something like this, but when I think of Clarkson in recent times, I see someone who hasn't adapted well in the last few years and has had a few health scares.

I don't see how being a senior coach in a new environment would help that, as the hours are too demanding. If it doesn't cost him his payout, I'd look at him as a coaching director. Buckley may be interesting there too, or maybe as an assistant option.

Speaking of, our assistants need a clearout mostly, and Teague needs to be told he and his staff need to help players develop their ability to read the game and work through the options within the game plan, so that plans B and C can be quickly moved to while the coaching staff seeks to make any further adjustments. Power has been great in the short time he's been in the mix, but it's important not to make snap decisions and evaluate the alternatives.

Also needs to trust talent over type, and a little more respect for speed of foot and speed of kick when contrasted against physicality over the ball. The game isn't played in a shoebox.

I’m so concerned that this is shaping up to be a Ratten-like dismissal. Knee jerk reaction to a season where we had no where near our best 22 on the park for an extended period. Unless the review shows a real coach driven culture issue or a culture issue that Teague is incapable of mending, then I’m concerned we will be going down a familiar path.
I just want the best decision to propel our great club back into greatness 💙
I was deffo on the Teague train, but I don’t think it’s anywhere Ratten like. Ratts got us into finals and we only narrowly missed winning one. Teague has played the same rubbish game plan all year, continually playing players out of position, and only putting them in their natural position after the review was launched and the season all but over. Even after all that, he fails to change it up, even when things are clearly failing, and the most concerning is that, even though they all claim to love him, no player (except maybe Walsh) are playing for him (Or more importantly - the Jumper). Nope, he’s done.

Malthouse was a massive scapegoat for the mistakes our board and footy department had been making for years as well as our culture and list quality. It's easier and more satisfying to blame the outgoing old coach than what was really rotten at Carlton.
This is incorrect, and that is an understatement.

Having no one better doesn't mean he's at the level. Just means we are bereft in that position.
I provided some pretty good options there, no? Saad, Doc, Williamson are all best 22, Willo perhaps best 26 but all proven players. LOB is a good player, if he leaves he’ll do well.

Great summary. Remember sitting on the second level in the Southern Stand watching Kouta towel up the Crows in the first final thinking we have got a chance, now. I remember the Herald Sun headline, "Kouta's Scooter Derails Crows". For some reason that stuck in my head.

The next week Richmond dragged us down to their rubbish football. But I was still comfortable with Kouta leading the way. He was unstoppable that day. Then Knights did Kouta's knee. And that was that.

Thinking about it, although there was a chance we would have got over the Bombers and I think the Lions would have been too hard.

Wayne Brittain gets a really bad wrap as the man who coached Carlton's first wooden spoon team. Parkin credited him with being the real coach in 99 and 2000 before he handed over officially in 2001.

In 2000 and especially 2001 Carlton was a very hard-working, honest side. Britts could coach.

Tom Morris has an understanding that senior management have already seen the details of the review and is damning on many fronts including, assistant coaches, the head of football, David Teague & others high up.
