If he does take 2022 off as he says he will, would have to be heading North in 2023.
I wonder if he can have the best of both worlds:
- get paid $900k by the Hawks
- join a team to consult on their coaching panel and structure (e.g like a director of coaching, helping pick the coaching team but as a private consultant)
- in 2023 either pick up that position full time, or jump into the head coach role if the head coach hasn't improved

This role would likely be available at either Carlton or Gold Coast.

The only concern with the above could be destabilisation if the current head coach doesn't have the confidence under this structure.

Sorry Ross, it was important to play Charlie tonight. He got through unscathed and that game and that goal will do his mental health the world of good. He didn't get a lot of the ball and there is no substitute for AFL match practice, but his body looked good and he moved well.

Cool - now bring in Kemp, Ramsay and lets get this party started - Carrol and Durdin can come too.

Interesting to see if any players leave hawthorn as well.

On Fox footy after our game they were saying those players brought in on a promise of a premiership should be offered a chance to now go elsewhere, and gives hawthorn picks to rebuild (Bolton's speciality :) )

Jaeger o Marra for a 2nd round pick? Don’t think any club would offer a 1st and at 28 next year could be around for 3-4 yrs

Just like saying I’m going to coach this club next year because I’m loyal and I don’t break contracts…. Smoke and mirrors…

Clarko didn't break his contract.

He played a game of chicken with Hawthorn who flinched and broke it for him!

In fairness to Ross he did say for him to play the final 2 games at AFL level, he just wanted him to get a VFL game in first.

Time to cash in the 2016 draft favour we did for the Hawks!!!

With five years' interest, some penalty fees... That comes to...

:p

Would anyone want to take on any of their contracts though?

JOM and Wingard are defective players, Mitchell seemed like a good option a couple of months ago but now Cripps has signed and Kennedy and Dow have emerged he’s probably superfluous. Still a gun though.

Reckon we either sign Cerra or go to the draft and develop our own version.

For that one game difference, he went on about risk and how he can't fathom it, and us not playing finals.

As it turned out, it seems to have energised us and finals are still possible.

For me that’s a big no B&S
I’ll pass on them all, 2 way past their best and not worth the probable asking price and pay pack we could put to better use on other needs and types...

Mitchell 28yrs May
O’Meara 27yrs Feb
Wingard 29yrs* July

Seemed very much to me that Ross was speaking as a potential coach as in "don't damage any of your valuables in case I am coaching next year "

No way does he have any knowledge of Charlie's physically mental health. I have never hear him make a similar call about any other player coming back from a long term injury.

In fairness it sounded selfish and self centred and to me helps solidify why I think he would be a poor choice as a senior coach.

We need a good balance of talented youth and mature, hardened body experienced talent too.
It’s a fine balance not easy to maintain that’s why ,Geelong may well be in a Grand Final 2021, whist we look on from the bottom half of the ladder still.
We haven’t since finals in a decade due to poor list management & several administrational issues. Hope our review guides us out of the mess.

In terms of board

MLG Gone
Pratt Gone
Mathieson Gone
Judd Gone

Key appointments - external vetting appointee process. All such appointments reviewed by an external party and findings voted on. 7 year revolving tunures for all members unless finals are made within the period.
Serious changes to appointees that have set remit for football department oversight. A good player who was an ex captain does not in anyway shape of form mean anything for such a critical appointment on the board, no disrespect to Judd. How in Gods name did he get appointed. Again the decision making capacity of current structure needs huge overall. How does a board let through the appointment of untried Coach, Director of Football, CEO, Assistant Coach (Stanton) with no experienced support all in one haul, and then throw the coach under the bus.
Some ramblings off the cuff but getting bored typing. So much wrong with it in its current form.

The review will be a good indicator of whether we are making progress or not. MLG not pres good start.
Off to the 2nd quarter.
Pratt MLG Judd have already announced there stepping down---- do you have information matheison son going also

Cant see Dow wanting out now, if that was the case, we would get a better draft pick than 12 months ago.

If SPS wants out, it might not be for a WA side, but if it was, I wouldn't be trading for Cerra, as much as I wanted him in that draft. I would be looking to get a tall, in Brander or Wiiliiams, or Meek at the Dockers

100 %….we can’t afford big contracts going forward…need to keep kids coming through the system too…..otherwise we’ll end up like Geelong…the next retirement village
