Cant see Dow wanting out now, if that was the case, we would get a better draft pick than 12 months ago.

If SPS wants out, it might not be for a WA side, but if it was, I wouldn't be trading for Cerra, as much as I wanted him in that draft. I would be looking to get a tall, in Brander of Wiiliiams, or Meek at the Dockers

What about a package with Meek added to Cerra deal

Brittain, Ratten, Bolton and Teague vs Parkin, Pagan and Malthouse in the past 30 years. We like to mix it up.

Parkin then Brittain, then Pagan, then Ratten, then Malthouse, then Bolton, then Teague.

Until recently (Teague/ Bolton) its been a pattern of [messiah] - [young coach] - [messiah] - [young coach] - [messiah] - [young coach] etc.

We're overdue a messiah.

I wonder whether it would be possible to get someone like Clarkson or Lyon to the club as an assistant. Clarkson alluded to having 2022 off, but does that mean off as senior coach or off from coaching at all? Lyon would probably chose his media career over and assistants role but maybe not.

If we aren't bringing in an experienced senior coach I think bringing in an experienced assistant coach could be just as good, providing the senior coach is willing to listen and work with them. Getting someone like Mark Williams would be excellent. Was a part of developing Richmond and is a part of Melbourne at the moment.

Don Pyke is another example, former head coach who had some success goes to a club as assistant and that club immediately starts having success.

It seems a rare thing to be able to get someone who is a former successful experienced older coach as an assistant but it would be a great outcome for us as well. Other teams do it and success seems to follow so why not us? How can Melbourne, Richmond and Sydney etc bring in good former senior coaches as assistants but we can't?

Is there anyone out there who fits the experienced mature coach who would be willing to assist under Teague?

Scott, Lyon, Clarkson, Buckley, Worsfold (in a role where he is present and not by proxy)?

Teague has his deficiencies but he's not a terrible coach, he's probably someone who can be worked with and can have success with good people around him. Perhaps Teague gets signed to a modest contract and we pay a little extra for a good senior assistant such as the names mentioned above or someone such as Caracella who is highly rated.

All I am saying is sacking Teague for a Lyon or Clarkson should not be our only option and may not be the best option. Other clubs like Richmond have decided they were underperforming so they went out and brought a guy in who was a former top senior coach but did not bring him in as senior coach, they brought him in as an assistant and I think we should seriously look at that. That would work, that could be the better option for all we know.

In saying this I think we need to make some big make or break decisions and sign some up some of our footy staff on long contracts. Can't have them all on short performance based contracts, we need to manage the footy staff contracts the same as we would the players so we can back/front end them to fit higher quality people in. That means we need to back in our people long term. We will probably have to do this if we want to sign a top experienced coach as assistant or as senior coach to fit everyone in.

Looks at premierships

No!

Geelong wish they could be us. Even got half a navy blue jumper...................

Depends how long you look at it.
How many cups, how pretty our jumper is etc is the domain of supporters. We lap up stuff like that. In this instance, we would rather not be 'like Geelong'.

If you're a coach/player/current administrator, then being in a position to challenge for a flag is the definition of successful. Simmo, Murphy, Gibbs etc whilst loving our club would have loved the club to be in a position 'like Geelong' and probably couldn't have given a shit about how good we were 'back in the day'..

Got to say that article in the HS about the leaked email reads almost exactly like a criticised bluemour posted earlier, even down to the use of WebEx..

Which aside from odd specifics was a summary of most rants over the past 12 months.

As an aside, watch the AFL move heaven and earth to ensure Clarko ends up at the Suns.

Their players already feeling it.

Watch this space.

Gotta make sure the AFL love child (GCS not Clarkson) remain nurtured…..c’mon Gill, a few more concessions won’t hurt either….maybe some extra draft picks, some extra NGA concessions and perhaps some extra salary cap relief to keep them ticking along !!!
Don’t worry about the other 17 clubs.

If thats the plan what will Clarko do next season? He mentioned in his press conference that his son was doing VCE next year, cant see him uprooting the family next year.
Clarko was in the circle today singing the song after the Hawks win which he doesnt normally do. Last game today maybe?
Time will tell.

Unfortunately the Port game is gonna be a huge stumbling block. Sad
Don't see it that way. Not much point in making the finals if we don't think that we can beat Port. They are far from a great team and will be gettable.

Let's get over this week first, and try and get a bit of percentage. If we can't beat Port we probably don't deserve to be in the finals and wouldn't he able to go far anyway. Some chance that we get on a "major league" type roll.

Fair. Here’s to hoping for a strong end to the season, regardless of a finals appearance.

Yep I feel an "ambassadorship" coming on for Clarko just like when we were after Coniglio the CorruptAFL magically found an ambassadorship role for him.

Same will happen at GC.

The last time we had an upset win against Port in August to make an improbable finals campaign I was in New York.
So I'm doing my bit and flying out next week.

I don't think Clarkson will want to coach a poor team, so GCS are probably out, unless $$$$$$$$. Reckon he'll have a year off and go to an up and comer.

I really hope we don't sign a coach on big dollars, they need to want to come to us, not us have to buy them.

Just on that, always reckoned Ross Lyon was great at picking a young list about to go bang. Reckon he was better at that than coaching so if he picks us it means a lot.

Yes I was half joking........

Any chance anyone has a Iink with the story about the leaked email? I don't have a HUN subscription. Thanks in advance.

You mean the made up one purporting to be from a report that hasn't been written yet?

You short of toilet paper or something?
