Yeah, my theory hinges on him being pretty attached to Teague and also possibly feeling personally responsible for his downfall, at least partially. It's shocking how much the wheels have fallen off, quite suddenly, and it might have forced a sudden change of thinking/heart.

Again, just raising it as a possibility but you're right, he will most likely honour his contract.

Yes the gilt complex is definitely showing a little on everyone actually, it will worst next week.
I like yr comments forward about Patrick’s form, he’s a shadow of what he was and a fresh change may be good for all parties.
I’d trade Cripps for Suns 2 top 10 picks, and rebuild our midfield, Roberts & Callaghan then trade pick 5 & SPS for Adam Cerra , would be a good return for a tired & dispirited champion that Cripps seems and our 2021 draft campaign overall.

You're not getting 2 top 10 draft picks for Cripps though

2018/19 Cripps maybe. Definitely not now. There are a lot of questions marks as to whether he'll ever reach his previous heights.

Hang on a minute.
Are you honestly saying that you don’t want Hodge at the club?
One of the best leaders in modern football, someone who demanded so much of his players and was as courageous as they come?
Someone who went to Brisbane and played a massive part in turning them from where we are now into a legit contender?
You can hand on heart say, that after watching that spiritless and demoralising loss today we don’t need someone with his level of inspiration as an assistant coach?
With all due respect, that opinion is just baffling.

what if Clarko came , and brought Burgoyne over as midfield assistant ? Hmmm .

I think it’s more so the way we use (or don’t use) Cripps more than than anything.
Probably just an incorrect observation, but it seems he’s goes in and is expected to bull his way through to clearances and contested possessions. We’ve been bemoaning the lack of successful stoppage set-ups for a while now and this has compounded the issue.
I think if we either go back to (or rebuild) our systems around the midfield, Cripps can and will go back to being a dominate midfielder.

Need to find a way to get him and MK working together - then put the acceleration and speed around them.

How’s that a straw man? My point is that just because you volunteer your time to something doesn’t mean that you are looking to selfishly gain something out of it.

It's clearly a Straw Man. You are implying I think "everyone" who volunteers their time is for self interest.

I'm clearly not saying I think that about "everyone".

Another observation regarding Cripps/clearances/midfield - don’t underestimate the loss of Kruezer to our set-ups.
Pittonet and TDK are yet to come close to the ability of Kruezer to impact contest after contest - especially his follow-up groundwork.

Completely agree. We need to target a ruck in the trade period. TDK needs more time or will end up English v2.

There’s a rumour going around on Twitter that some recently re-contracted players may be considering their futures. Seems like bs to me. And the rumour about re Crippa leaving because Teague is on the way out. He sure hasn’t played like he wants to keep him around. A clarkson, Lyon or even Buckley makes us an instantly 5 goal better side with just proper structures

I doubt it. Just peeps taking pop shots at us on socials due to the disappointing heavy loss.

True but the coaches should have been planning on a Kruezer-less system for the whole of Teague's tenure given his shocking injury run and age.

They should have been. But didn't. Pitto was a cheap backup who had to get thrown into #1 Ruck.

It was very likely us that was reported to be trying to coax Sandilands out of retirement.

I'm worried a loss like this might make a Cerra, Hewett and other potential targets start to have second thoughts.
A lot of that will depend on what coach we have anyway. If Clarko comes in, I dare say we stand a lot better chance of getting players onboard.

I see so many similarities between us and Richmond in 2016.

They went into 2016 expecting to make finals. They finished on 8 wins, missed finals, fell apart at the end of the year and lost in the last round by >100 points.

Things looked so bad, there were calls to sack the coach.

Sound familiar?

Well, they kept the coach, stuck to the plan, added the missing pieces in Prestia and Nankervis and won the flag in '17.

It's uncanny how similar the situation is to us now.

I think we also need to stick to the plan, pick up some finishing pieces and we also might win a flag by '17.....

Oh really?

You know Richmond made finals in the 3 years prior to 2016 right?

(Those) Carlton supporters drawing the same parallels is really just to comfort their poor little heads that if we keep doing nothing, things will miraculously turn around.

Here's the hot tip, they won't.

FFS we have a football review going on and the football director didn't even show up to Thursday's board meeting where the review was discussed. How can anybody be ok with this??

Governance of this club is in total paralysis, and there must be upheaval for us to move forward
