It does too. That's unusual.
I was banking it on what we had previously.

The question would then be, have clubs more time to match, or is it status quo with 72 hours.
If not.....we know the answer.
Still 3 days. I think it's designed to create as much certainty in this space as possible. For everyone's sake.

Why the hell do people on this board think Joe Daniher is worth a 1st Round Pick???
  • He's played a handful of games in the last 3 years
  • Lost all confidence in his kicking.
  • Has highly suspect groins.
  • If he was looking to go to the Hawks they'd be offering up a late 3rd/early 4th Rounder like they did for Scully. Fact.
Honestly, I couldn't give a stuff what Dodo wants. It's little more than bluster & blunder.

I'd love to see both the Blues and Lions call Dodoro's bluff on Saad and Daniher by attempting to walk them via the Pre Season Draft. Will they get to their destinations??? Probably not, but Dodo will have to go back to the board and explain why Essendon lost 2 tradable players for no result.

You're forgetting or ignoring, regardless of Leon Cameron's comments, the fact that Cameron has had one foot out the door for the vast majority of the season. Geelong's own staffers have made remarks to the media to the point of tampering throughout the year (as mentioned in more than one newspaper article in the past couple of days). GWS were well aware of this situation.

Regardless, at some point, they have to play their young mids and flankers. Losing Williams for free agent compensation while simultaneously matching and trading Cameron really enables GWS to reload and give opportunities to those who earn it before they walk out the door because they didn't get it.

GWS will walk away armed with three or four first-round picks, to add to ready-made players who are ready to take their turn, and in a better salary cap position.

Retaining Williams would mean less opportunity for players they already have let alone those who they draft in, a tighter salary cap (even if Cameron leaving eases it a little bit) and they'll be no closer to a premiership than they were this year until they find steady forward targets to replace Cameron (Riccardi's good but he's a different type).

Letting Williams go and getting compo makes too much sense.
Like you say they have replacements in the offing for Williams in Ash and Cumming who just re signed so they can well afford to let Williams go especially with the compo coming there way.

Yeah and I fear for our TPP without him, let’s hope they don’t throw away all his hard work by paying to much in the next 2 years trying to speed up the process.
Look what SOS was offering MMG, Shiel, Cogs even Martin didn’t deserve his offer. We are following the exact same path SOS was going down.

Would almost be worth it just to see the back of DoDo once and for all, it’s a fair chance in our case at least not sure for Brisbane.

It’s a shambles that gives some clubs areas with a plethora of options and others like us for instance with nothing but fresh air, AFL needs to run NGAs and everyone gets equal access while putting in equal money to run them it’s the only fair system, excluding the northern academies of course who would not have access as they have there own academies. It certainly can not remain the way it is as it’s a joke atm, either the above or a redistribution of the NGA zones to be more equatable.
The Zones atm are truly pot luck for clubs when it comes down to talent but do seem unfairly setup, will things eventually cycle out evenly across the board or will there be an ongoing inbalanced advantage for just a handful of clubs? We have certainly drawn the the shit end of the stick with production so far...

Should GWS be concerned about their ability to keep Key Forwards? All started with Josh Bruce.. then Boyd, Patton, Lobb, McCarthy, Stewart, now Cameron.

Feels like we’ve landed the old St Kilda zone

From what I understand we have handed back our zone to the AFL so something has to change.

Essendon and Dodoro are really backing themselves into a corner with their requests for Saad and Daniher.
It's obvious that they are not playing for Essendon again and could just go into the draft.
Essendon would get nothing, they only have pick 6 and no second rounder

We could get Saad for Pick 27 and Brisbane Daniher for pick 19

It all changes next year doesn’t it? If someone bids on your nga in the first 2 rounds his your player

The Jack Martin non-trade has changed the landscape - PSD is no longer a dirty word - take note, Dorito

Not a rumour but a strong prediction: Gary Rohan will not be at the cattery next year.
Because of Jeremy Comeran and cap space?
His turning 30 next year too young for their list demographics
