Sorry, I started it accidentally when making an analogy to drafting.

I'll drop the finance chat and go back to talking about Dow, Jones, Russell (2000), (March)bank and Stock(er).

I can also talk about *'s all ordinary players and that if I was their list manager I would CAC my DAX....
I saw everybody talking about Dow’s FTSE skills and I got confused.

Bit of a weird situation re Stocker.
Unless we could get decent value for him, I don't see the point in trading him to Hawks (unless Teague & Austin really don't rate him).
Seems like he was heavily a Bolts/SOS favourite.
He just gives me bad vibes from what I see of him on Instagram. Wouldn't be opposed to trading, we wouldn't really know what we've lost if he goes.
Only downside is the media. They would hammer us if he left.

On another note, here's hoping Crouch signs with Port. Would put Wines very much back in the picture.

Kills us if we miss on stocker, LOB and Dow.

Not looking pretty right now.

Oh well sh*t happens
That’s why it’s so important to base a rebuild on multiple early picks over consecutive seasons, which we’ve done.

You’re always gonna miss a couple early ones and hopefully nail a couple of late ones. Just the nature of the draft (look what happened with Geelongs first round picks on Cockatoo, Lang, Smedts).

FWIW I’m not ready to write off Dow, but I think some of the players we’ve drafted from the second round onward, including cunners, fish, TDK, Willow will offset any earlier busts we might have.

Don’t forget we haven’t got an opportunity to see Kemp yet, and it wasn’t a great year of development for our newest draftees.

Bad vibes? Pretty clear he's suffering from some mental health issues and from my perspective he seems like he was still really invested in the club and training regularly.

He needs support, and less reasons to feel anxious in his own skin. Talented kid, speaks well and happy to give him time he needs.

Not much love for Dow. I’m really bullish about his future. His first year was pretty good, his second was okay and his third a wipeout.

He possesses Lenny Hayes like traits, I believe. Hayes wasn’t a quick runner, but had really quick footwork to change direction and could find a gaps in congestion to release his teammates - this is Dow, although Dow is quicker. Hayes was a champion and one of the most courageous players I’ve seen. In no way am I saying Dow may be as good him, but I like some of these similarities.
Coffield looks like Lenny Hayes II to me.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on Isaac Smith? Apparently wants a 3 year deal according to the media reports, would probably take 2 at a club who is contending in the next couple of years like we hopefully are. I think he’d be a great addition. I still remember when Blaine Boekhorst was going to be our version of Smith. We can get the real deal now for cheap.

Might be worth bringing him in just to help us beat the bloody hawks! Sick of them being a bogey side for us
Yes, please for Smith. Perfect wing mentor for Walsh and LOB.

If it's mental health issues then sure, give him the time. I suspect time away from the club and back in Melbourne would've helped him decide his intentions. If he decides Carlton isn't where he wants to be, then I'd have no issue in trading him if it was for fair value.

Seems to me Dow is doing ok for a 3rd year player who wasn't 100%.

I think its mainly confidence, give him another year injury free to prove himself . looked ok in these highlights:

The jury is out on Dow and some other younger players, so you shouldn’t rush to trade them out.
Just focus on their obvious weaknesses over summer training. It’s not rocket science.

If Crouch goes to Port, there’s plenty of good logic in trying to lure Wines to Princes Park.

Phillips seems to be the obvious potential iron still in the fire going off discussions in the media that Carlton "isn't done yet" and taking into account Barbazza's comments that we were looking at a finals player on the value of around $500k.

Phillips is a decent player, runs hard on a wing, but isn't anything special. Would step in straight away like Newnes did this year and probably replace the Newnes workhorse.

I wouldn't mind the acquisition.

Amateur psychologist but he seems like maybe one of those kids where maybe he has cruised through life on his talent and smarts and for the first time is being confronted by not having immediate success.

Hopefully he reacts positively and its the making of him.

It was definitely an injury thing this year.

He'll come good. Just needs to get his body right.

I doubt North or any other club would pick him in the PSD if doesn't have a meeting with them, nor do a physical.
That would be very careless.
For sure, I was just trying to understand what the AFL's salary cap rules around this are. That is, would a club have to wear the salary cap space of a player who decides to sit out rather than play for them.

Depends. The draft nomination form isnt a contract, its just terms. He'd have to go to Arden Street and sign with them for it be counted.

I will be gutted if we trade Stocker. I know he hasn’t shown much at senior level, but I have high hopes for him. Just needs a decent run at it.
Surely Bolton is involved if this rumour is true.

:clapping:

I would believe it. Hawthorn could turn him around.

Why can’t we?

If we can get away from Stocker with a second rounder in hand I think we should take it and run.
Seems to lack the application required to be a professional sportsman

What? No. Lots of people have reacted differently to lockdown and COVID in general. I dont think wanting to be around family is something thats out of the ordinary, especially during a once in a hundred years pandemic.
