Not sure where this threads up to I’ve been flat out and haven’t had time to read all the great posts
I’ve been excited by all the talk In y TY h Ed media of all the talent that might come into our proud famous club
I like Probably most just want to see success and sometimes the grass looks greener on the other side even though it’s artificial
I believe that putting a system in place where these young players can look up to the senior players with respect is where we need to be to move forward
The addition of talent whilst fantastic needs to be managed or it will turn to crap and then resentment Sets in Eg the bombers
Let’s embrace our current players with positive posts not criticisms and if they are traded wish them the best I for one wouldn’t like to be delideo get the drift
Hopefully the club acts responsibly and brings the X factor into the club which is what every single supporter is hoping for

He might not have their burst speed but it is still his weapon, simplifying the game to either handball or burst and bombis an option.

And if you want to test the theory - go for a 10km run doing a 100m sprint once every km then see how your kicking is at the end of it.
I've suggested the same in the past, he just needs to get to a point where he isn't an embarrassing kick and can kick with some predictability.

Again that's assuming his fitness is the issue.

Things I've heard from decent sources
Stocker has what we don’t have in large quantities - a bit of attitude, or spunk as my wife would put it ...

He’s not your Charlie C lovable larrikin type ... more of your Lewis Hamilton I wanna be great and Im going to act like it type.

“I don’t think I’ve ever taken it across the line and I pride myself on being quite honest and authentic,” he said.

“That competitive nature is what has got me this far in football so far… the way my football journey has gone, I’ve always had plenty of criticism.”

Maybe not great in a bubble?

I still have very high hopes for Stocker and Dow but we shouldn’t get too worried if they don’t become superstars.

Richmond drafted in the first round:
Vickery
Conca
Corey Ellis
Brandon Ellis
Ben Lennon

Hawthorn drafted in the first round:
Xavier Ellis
Mitch Thorp
Dowler
Schoenmakers

The talent we are trading in Williams, Saad, Jack Martin even going back to Setterfield should fill the void and allow our younger players to develop in the background without the immediate pressure of the AFL splotlight.

In the past we’ve had to expose younger players to AFL footy too early through necessity (Matthew Watson, Bootsma, Dow, LOB, Macreadie, even Weitering to a lesser extent)

Apparently there's posts on the Hawks board saying that they are in talks with Stocker (don't shoot the messenger and yes they're aware he's contracted )

Because clubs will be asking about some of our younger players, as they can see a lack of opportunity afforded to them, given where they are.
Every club has to be doing this and if not, they're not doing their homework.

It's an easy sell for a club coming along and tell players that they won't be best 22 starers here, but they will be there.
It's all the easier when you have a coach that's respected amongst the ranks, or a club that simply has a history of doing things well.

It's really no big deal and we best get used to it.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on Isaac Smith? Apparently wants a 3 year deal according to the media reports, would probably take 2 at a club who is contending in the next couple of years like we hopefully are. I think he’d be a great addition. I still remember when Blaine Boekhorst was going to be our version of Smith. We can get the real deal now for cheap.

Might be worth bringing him in just to help us beat the bloody hawks! Sick of them being a bogey side for us

About to turn 32... you don't give 3 years at that age, even one that is durable and rarely misses. Wouldn't be opposed to bringing him in for 2 years on not too much coin, but not at the expense of one of our youngsters, so really depends on list sizes. Think I just convinced myself that it's a no

The Stocker trade news would surprise me. From what I’ve heard there is a chance he might not play again, did not handle the hub life well. Needed to get back to Melbourne and get himself stable. I wish him all the best.

Wow.
Hopefully he can get himself right now that he's back in Melbourne and away from footy for a while.

Not much love for Dow. I’m really bullish about his future. His first year was pretty good, his second was okay and his third a wipeout.

He possesses Lenny Hayes like traits, I believe. Hayes wasn’t a quick runner, but had really quick footwork to change direction and could find gaps in congestion to release his teammates - this is Dow, although Dow is quicker. Hayes was a champion and one of the most courageous players I’ve seen. In no way am I saying Dow may be as good him, but I like some of these similarities.

Look again.

Mitchell was drafted in 2011, didn't play in 2012, 14 games in 2013 and 6 in 2014. He played 19 games in his 4th year.

Josh Kennedy was drafted in 2006, didn't play in 2007, played 3 games in 2008, and 10 in 2009 before 24 in 2010 with the Swans.
As above. Website I looked excluded year they were drafted in and didn't show year they played 0

It would be nice if someone at the club could come out and explain to our supporters that Dow was injured for the majority of the year. Our football operations manager and coach have dropped the ball here. If it was McGovern or Betts, both would be on the front foot supporting them both. Disgraceful by the club in its support for a young talented player.
SOS wouldn’t have allowed it
