Honestly I’m really coming around to the idea of letting him slip through to the national draft and take him at our first pick if they are going to play this game.

Still a reasonable use of that pick and just immensely satisfying to not give it to them.

They won’t use 6 on him; this draft is enormous for their future and they won’t waste their pick on a guy who doesn’t want to play for them.

I reckon blues could be pretty confident he’d still be there by the time we had our first pick

Why is the AFL taken so long for the list size cuts and salary cap etc

In my humble opinion, the AFL have been trying to reduce list sizes and football departments for a while. I think they are trying to restructure everything and using covid as an excuse.

My guess is that the clubs and the AFLPA know this and are protracting the argument.

No chance a deal can be done for that pick, pick 16 will most likely pushing out to pick 20 anyway pick 27 will end up possibly around 33.
So let them keep on digging a hole for themselves with an outdated and ridiculous bluffing negotiating strategy, it would reflect far better for us as a club to be showing everyone that we operated in a fair and respectful way by offering his trade value.
Clubs see us as a reasonable to possibly trade with for now and the future, while everyone gets another look at *** shenanigans which grow more pitiful by the year... we’ve got them either way all his crap from them will become tiresome, then they’ll except or lose him for nought burgers.
Even they couldn’t be that pigheaded and dumb...

We have people at the club who can mend such relationships. If he couldn't handle hub life or hanging around for a scratch match 2 out of every 3 weeks, with zero hope of being selected, I kind of get it.

He was a confident young man, something I didn't mind when I watched him play. We are still a very introverted group so I can see how he might stand out negatively.

We have two captains, they should be sorting this sort of sh*t out.

Not to mention it can be demoralising for a young man to go from being top dog at junior level, to then come crashing back down to earth when you get to the big leagues.

Sometimes having that much confidence can work against you, at least until you reach your perceived potential.

I hope the club doesn't give up on him.
