As per the Bluemour File OP, this is a thread for discussing Carlton related rumours.
http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/bluemour-file.1085141/

Rumour posters should post their rumours in both threads for those that like just to read rumours and for those that like to have get lost in their rumour files.

didn't * try this with Mal Michael. He retired to PNG and then, hey presto plays full back for the Dons?

They picked him up in the PSD. But didn't he announce he had signed with them before they took him or something? Whatever happened, I recall it rather pissed off the Lions.

Good to hear Rendell pull Dodo up on this bull about dismissing picks because they “slip back” in the draft (in response to Dodo dismissing Port’s second rounder for Fantasia)

It’s one of the biggest non issues in the draft and is always used as an excuse by recruiters.

In reality only the clubs tied to academy
/FS players have access to them and if they are any good they will get taken by the clubs they are tied to when bids are placed.

It’s just the draft working around players which are already tied to clubs. The picks themselves don’t actually change when they slide back.

There's some validity to it.

Take an extreme example.

Say Carlton has Pick 3. 15 of the consensus first round draftees are tied to clubs via academy and father/son. The club with Pick 2 bids on all of them. All the bids get matched.

Carlton is still getting the 3rd best non-academy player. But that player is the 18th best player in the draft. And trading from 3 to 1, while only moving up two spots in the table, secures a player rated 17 spots higher overall.

Academy players are absolutely a consideration.

Thanks for that.

So, if I'm understanding correctly, they can only really assess his suitability to play as he is now? With no way of knowing what effect the next knock might have on his functioning afterwards?

Personally think the bloke might be better off playing golf or lawn bowls for his own quality of life.
Yeah, that's how I'm reading the situation.

And I tend to agree, there are so many factors that determine ones susceptibility to concussion. I watched a YouTube video a year or so ago where he detailed just how bad it got, to the point where he couldn't walk to the end of his street. He was basically housebound for a good while, it's insane.

For mine, if he is fit and healthy I'd love to see him at the club to shore up our KPD stocks, however if it's not in his best interests then I think it's time for him to walk away unfortunately.

Eh, I think he could be good for us. Defends OK and is one of our defenders who can hit the short, 45 deg kicks which is really important to help us transition the footy instead of always kicking long down the line. Both Richmond and Geelong took those aggressive kicks a lot in their finals and I want to mimic that.

A few tweaks to SPS' decision making but also our system with where players run to receive the ball when he has it and I think he can become a good weapon in addition to Saad's speed.
I rate Sammo very highly but just believe we'd be better served with him in the forward line.

If we get it done in the next 2-3 days, i think we’ve got something else cooking.

Why would we be hasty in getting something done like this so quickly if we didn’t? Esp at the expense of a top 10 pick.

Conversely, why wouldn't we get the other deal done with Saad at an Impasse? Pick 8 should be used before * can get the grimey greedy hands on it.
SOS said on the Trade radio this afternoon that Saad should have left it until a few days out to say he wants to come to carlton so we had time to do the Pick swaps before. Now * expect Pick 8. What I don't get on any level is why we have to give them anything at all? He's out of contract. Sure it means he has to go to the draft but surely * realise that if we don't get him through the door they get Nothing.

Oh, Crows didn't match Saints on Crouch.. can't be happy with the compo pick though?

Absolute pissa

They love to posture.....then cower

Funnily enough they are a real option to trade with, have the first 2 picks of the second round....pick 8 would fit nicely in that and give us 3 picks in the second and give Essendon the best of those....which makes me sick as they should get the worst🤮 but I’m willing to fold just a little bit
