As per the Bluemour File OP, this is a thread for discussing Carlton related rumours.
http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/bluemour-file.1085141/

Rumour posters should post their rumours in both threads for those that like just to read rumours and for those that like to have get lost in their rumour files.

Remember ... #Bluemour

Which seems odd given we are in need of another quality midfielder, unless there is some truth to Oliver wanting to come to us and its just we don't think we have what is needed to get him here (as has been suggested previously)?.

On Dunkley I think it's more so that we know that the Dogs have no desire to trade him, the only currency we have to give them is a pick that is essentially meaningless to them (would be swallowed by JUH), and to push the issue would potentially burn bridges in the short-to-medium term. Dodoro pushing the issue there is going to sour a relationship and make the Dogs not willing to trade with them as freely moving forward.

How long does Dodoro last at * then?

A Pies fan elsewhere all but confirming TCP.

Collingwood looking to see if we can get them salary relief for pick swaps if it helps us get Saad done.

They don't like Dodoro's silly games, need to get salary cap relief, and strategizing with the "our enemy of our enemy..." tactics
Getting them salary relief = taking a player?

There were no specifics but not necessarily. May involve one of their players going to Dodoro.

Personally, I'd think a plausible tactic might be "Hey, Adrian. You're losing Saad. How about we help you replace him with Phillips?"

Then what zeeCFC has suggested with pick swaps that help the Pies now.

A trade could look under for the Pies but if they're in the hole as clearly as they are they may look at a dump as a win in itself.

I think I saw that Mason Cox is set to get $600k next year. Wowee.

Trying to be pragmatic, Oliver is a slightly lesser version of Cripps.
What would you consider fair compensation for Cripps?
IMO It'd take a kings ransom of assets heading the other way for the deal to be done.
We only have one Cripps. Melbourne have three or four that could take up the main man mantle (Viney, Brayshaw, Petracca or Oliver). Means they can cover easier.

Why is it rubbish ?
Everyone here wants Oliver, Wines, Merrett, Taranto, etc etc
Why are our players immuned ?
It's not how Bigfooty works, everyone wants to join your club and the opposition will accept unders to facilitate the deal, meanwhile, the opposition will willingly pay overs for a supporter approved fringe player.

Funny you say that - I used to always say 'I hate Essendon' but as I've got older realised the futility (and idiocy) in having such emotions around a sport and so have forcibly tried to stop myself from saying it.

It's petty I agree, shouldn't be saying it BUT nothing at all stopping you from thinking it and even sometimes expressing your thoughts.;)

It doesn't mean that they accept a lesser deal for a valued commodity, particularly given there'd be no shortage of suitors.
Flipping it, we have 2x kpf and the Dees arguably none, do we accept unders for either Charlie or Harry because we can more easily cover one of their departures?
Answer: ****. NO.

If we're pick swapping with the scum, I'd be doing whatever it takes to still be able to get Oliver in this year. When a year passes, players can change their minds very easily

Yep. Has there every been a time where we miss out on a player and I see "and next year we go for this player.... " that has actually happened.

I hate everything about * and always will.
So I'm trying hard not to let that cloud my judgement on the whole pick 8 thing.
I tend to think that if we're going to get ourselves into Premiership contention, our improvement won't be linear.
Just a gut feeling, but I think this group needs some kind of shock to the system.
A period of rapid improvement that instills belief, and has the whole organization shaking off two decades of poor performance, where most seasons we haven't even been good enough to be mediocre.

So paying 'too much' for two or three players (either in terms of salary or draft currency) who are at the age and performance level to bring that to the team, is something I'm ok with.

I worry that banking on gradual linear progression won't be enough, and this is the time to really invest. And a couple of players who we've given up a little too much for could give us a return beyond their individual performances, and a return that lasts beyond their playing careers.

I just wish Saad wasn't coming from a team I despise with every fibre of my being.

You won’t have any issues fitting in around here.
