Staying at Collingwood is probably the only way he can avoid it though

Nah, Collingwood seem to be making it very difficult to fulfill the terms of the contract.
Admittedly we have limited info but I reckon he’d have a decent equity case regardless of what terms he accepts elsewhere.

Pies are ****ed.

Good morning to all . Has Nick Daicos actually indicated he will nominate as a father-son next year ? From what I understand he is a mad Carlton fan and Murph is his favourite player , so if he wasn't to nominate as a father-son he would be available to whoever picked him ?
Cheers in advance , have a great day all !

Just a thought....forgo Saad & go after Dunkley.

Good thing our List Management.......manage the list. :)

Saad should be of more impact to the team than Dunkley would have been.
We needed someone like Saad and have been aggressive in endeavouring to attain his services.
Williams is a complement to the midfield and Cripps will get his 'support' via Setterfield next year, anyway.

We have most of the right pieces now. We just have to get them fit, onto the ground and developed to the endth degree.

If he doesn't nominate as a F/S, then he's free to all on draft night.
Can't nominate a team you barracked for and I'm not sure we want to finish last to get him :)

Can't see Geelong letting Fogarty go.
Constable & Narkle for sure, but they're going to need Fogarty & Clark.
Can't see a way they move on De Koning either. They seem to love their draftees of last year.

Of course. No ill will intended and you may be right.

Chances are he will nominate F/S to avoid going to team that finishes last ...

Apparently the kid is so good that he could be Pick 1. I think he will nominate as a father/son selection because Collingwood guarantees he stays in Victoria. The alternative would most likely be one of this years bottom 3 and he wouldn’t want that.

Is there a time limit on Nick choosing for or against F/S?

Think you are missing the point, especially around WHS laws. With any doctor willing to sign off on Paddy playing, you will have another that wouldn't

If at any time he receives another head knock, resulting in major brain injury, the fines, compensation would be massive
I don't think I am missing the point, unless you don't think our great club cant be trusted to invite independent medical opinion, make its own risk assessments or even mitigate risk should it offer him a contract.

They have a ridiculous amount of money to move on.
The 4 players mentioned account for nearly 1/5 of their salary cap.

Could we look at something like,

Collingwood: pick8, 2021 3rd and 4th and a swap of our 2020 2nds

Carlton:Stephenson and Collingwoods 2020 1st.

Gives Collingwood points for next year, upgraded picks and salary cap relief.

We get a small forward, later pick for Saad and It’s a trade dickdoro can’t claim to better.

What's the new obsession with Fogarty, he rates average or below average in all categories... No more Geelong spuds...

Treloar it's just too much money for mine, recon there must be a reason he is the one getting the flick and it's not money...
Would rather spend that much on a Oliver, Merrett or Kelly or lesser amount on a JDG (if played in middle and got him super fit he would be a weapon)
Fogarty is not a "spud". Would have loved him in the draft.
Quality young player, but has had repeat soft tissue issues at a young age.
The other go slow is that we need a genuine small forward x-factor type. While small, probably Fogarty's biggest asset is his manic tackling and game
sense. He would be replacing Gibbons if finding a spot, more pressure than scoreboard. More midfielder than forward.

Yeah of course by no means a certainty. But I'd definitely favour the Oliver/Merrett option. They both have age on their side and don't have the injury issues.
Merrett will only be one year younger and would probably want an extra year so will be much the same, and Oliver will cost two firsts which hopefully ours are so high next year that may not even get it done.
I hope there are better options but it really wouldn’t surprise me if there isn’t.
