And let me add, as a whole:

In Williams Saad Fogarty.. picks 38/48/78...
Out Picks 8 30 51 and 87

Whilst Saad was uncontracted, he wasn't a free agent. You need to suck it up that you need to pay up for good players, we just aren't used to it as a club!

Look at the whole picture. It has been successful trade period because as a net value we are a BETTER side. Enough with getting excited about drafts now. Now, we get excited for finals.
Yes. And I would love for us to drop a real bomb on Friday and announce Crippa signs for five and Harry for three. Trade week sorted.
Ta very much.

Getting Fogarty for nothing doesn't really change the fact we just gave Essendon a free leg up to Cup 17 by overpaying for a HBF. Picks 6, 7, 8 is a really strong foundation to rebuild from and they already have half a team, we have set them up to be a contender in the not too distant future IMO.
I'm not quite sure the exodus from * is over just yet..

Didn't Kemp get a BOG as KPD , KPF and Inside Mid all in the same year before his ACL ? I'm sure I read that somewhere , I know he will be eased into it next year but it's hard to believe we got such a player at the pick we got him at .
If there’s anything you need to know about this kid, just ask me !

look out for Brodie Kemp to add to the midfield bulk as well._.-. the kid is a brute

I rate Setters, and really looking forward to seeing Kemp. I want Crippa to do what he does best- win the ball and give it to the outside runners. We have plenty of midfield depth to play Crippa 20-30% forward to keep him on the park.

I’m not sure about his tank, but I don’t see why Saad couldn’t play in the guts for some centre bounces. He looks to have good reflex hands, superb acceleration, and he’s a strong tackler.

Don't disagree on those attributes but I just don't think we will need him there. The current day attacking hbf has two main plusses, pace and foot skills.
Saad will play off hb.

Williams will play mid.

Skull Face - can't fault any of your logic tbh - stay strong and ignore the nuff nuff chest puffers - not only rude but also clueless most of them.

We need strengthening up the midfield so we go out and pick up two HBFers...yee haaa

and that is not a knock on either Williams (who I've always liked) or Saad - both of whom will be more than handy

disagree with your going early thing(partly) I think the list numbers will change lower and then lower again - I stated months ago that picks this year would be worth less than established proven players - we have plenty of fingers crossed could be future A graders omn our list - but we need two of Kemp/Stocker/Dow/SPS to actually become AFL quality players...

Charlie's injury is the real downer in my books - along with Doc's announced issues and likely recovery timeline - nexxt hurdle is Cripps and Harry signing on for meaningful extensions.

Fortunately ( again ) big Levi is still on the books.
Next year u will watch Williams in midfield and say ‘wow love his mongrel!’

Actually in disbelief at the melts in here.

We hit the draft 5 years in a row. We have a large number of 18-21 year olds waiting in the wings. The most of any club. We filled two areas of need, while also addressing speed - our greatness weakness. We added two legitimate B+/A-graders to our list.

Yes it would’ve been a dream to also add another premium midfielder, but at what cost? Was Oliver ever on the table? Merrett? No.

The only hole in our list is a legitimate small forward, and I’m confident we’ll address this at the draft.

Whether you are comfortable or not with Saad’s value, the bottom line is that we have significantly improved our list this off-season. If you’re not happy with that, then I’m at a serious loss.

I’de like to persevere with LOB still think he has the tools to be a damaging outside player and it’s to early to call.

If he was open to leaving for opportunity or any other reasons the club should respect his wishes and be honest with him on where they see it for 2021, Teagues shown his preference for senior bodies and he probably won’t get a lot of opportunity unless things drastically change. Which is a shame because we might well be looking for a winger come 2022

I think the romance of draft picks is strong in the thoughts of many, myself included, given it is what we have been conditioned to look forward to every year.

Good outcome overall. Team gains two extremely good football players who slot immediately into the starting 18.

My main issues moving forward:

- Somehow miraculously getting Charlie Curnow onto a football field as a participant in an AFL match
- One or more of Dow, LOB, Stocker becoming respectable AFL players
- Playing Cuningham in a position which allows him to exert influence on an AFL match (such as the midfield)
- Replacing some holes in our list moving forward: KPD reserve (will Macreadie survive the cull and do something with his career?) and small forward, in particular

So has DC but he hasn't got any midfield minutes since he was quite good in there, you have to ask the question why? I am not sold on Williams as a full time mid at this stage.

The difference with us Brisbane is they went after a grade proven kids in beams and the Neale, we haven't besides cogs who we didn't get.

No disrespect, but DC is a dumb footballer who struggles to read the unfolding play

Beams cost JDG and Crips, so that was a fail

Neale was a great get, but collective cost is more than Saad and Williams combined

2020 best 22 out: Simpson

2021 best 22 in: Williams, Saad

Depth out: So far nobody of great importance out (I'm not including Kreuzer because of the R1 injury)

Depth in: Potential with Fogarty.

Expected improvement from those already on the list (overall) sees an easy to predict overall and individual improvement from 2020 to 2021 even considering the fact that improvement is not lateral.

We'll make finals unless we get smashed completely with big-name long-term injuries.

Very happy. Still got a 2nd, 3rd + 4th rounder in 2020 draft.

Don't know how true this is but a mate just told me we are into Hewett from Swans and LOB might be part of it , reckons Swans wanted Lochie in his draft year , if I remember correctly Hewett played well on Crippa last time and could be an Ed type shutdown replacement. Could be yanking my chain but I guess with a day left time will tell .

In a heartbeat.

Has he got any power out of a contest?

Physically, power-wise, Kemp was a beast pre-injury. If it hasn't hurt his power game then he has it in spades. This was one of the key attributes we highlighted when we drafted him.

I think we've loaded up at just the right time. Most of our younger players who have been getting games are coming into that sweet spot for games played and we have most definitely be light on run and carry.

I think with Saad and Williams our best 22 will look the most balanced it's been in years.

People keep banging on about help for Crippa but he doesn't need it. Setters is more than capable inside and Williams can do the same plus play first receiver, Martin can play there and the club will be backing Kemp and Stocker to play inside mid too. Also regardless of what we think the club is backing Dow at this point to get up as well. Tbh I'd have no problem not seeing Murphy in the seniors much at all next season (throw in Eddie and to a lesser degree Ed as well).

We have a great spread of talent and some awesome potential while also getting in some quality needs.

That doesn't mean GF next season but I'd hope to see 8th as a real chance and anything higher as a plus.

Crippa loves being the big dog...he thrives on it. There will be plenty of help for him next season

Let’s hope he can do a Walsh, step straight into our best half dozen players. With Charlie injured he may get opportunities deep forward, but given his versatility he may play off interchange and have a run in all 3 zones.

Got to put it all in perspective. If we want to take the next step next year, draft picks in this years draft are not going to help us achieve that. Plus we already have enough young talent. Kemp is consider a new recruit.

We get so hung up on draft picks yet many of our supporters have no patience when they aren’t superstars by the age of 21 i.e. Dow, LOB etc. therefore If we want to play finals next year, how is pick 8 or any other picks in this years draft going to be any better than who we brought in?

We have brought in players that cover a glaring weakness in our side, which is run and carry and pace. Again a magnificent job so far by our recruiting team.
