It's hilarious... IF they were rebuilding, sure, you take it... But their list is in big time limbo...

OUT:

Daniher, Saad, Fantasia
Pick 29, 48, 73, 78, Future 2nd, future 4th

IN:

Wright, Caldwell
Pick 7, 8, 44, 74, 87, future 3rd

They come out of this a worse side.
I left out a little to this..

OUT:

Daniher, Saad, Fantasia, McKenna, McKernan (meh)
Pick 29, 48, 73, 78, Future 2nd, future 4th

IN:

Wright, Caldwell, Hind
Pick 7, 8, 44, 74, 87, future 3rd

I'm a little bit confused about how we finished 12th, traded in Saad and Fogarty only, and have the 17th best hand at the draft.

Sure, other teams lost players so got currency back. Everyone but us seemed to get some bargains.
A very poor trade period for us without hindsight.

If Saad and Fogarty comes off then its genius.

Did we get Luke Dunstan yet?
He will be a DFA.

Nick Hind good pick up by *, I would have loved to have done that trade
Yep again they did well on that but they should have had him already seeing he was from there VFL team, not sure what they paid it wasnt up when I looked but yeah both Caldwell and Hind are good gets.

Pretty sure he wanted more

Paid more for Caldwell than he wanted, got less for Fantapants compared to his demands

Austin still gave him overs.

I'm very happy for Saad, don't get me wrong, but we come out paying more than we should and hang our hat on the Williams signing.

Fogarty has to prove he can get out on the park before we can claim that's a win.

Coulda shoulda woulda.

And how is he looking now the entirety of the trade period is done? BT, put that tired, defeatist rhetoric to bed. We are a better footy team.

How's Dodo looking? Coming out on top.

How will he look post-draft? Fine

A few years from now? Those shiny toys don't look so shiny and half their picks amount to nothing.

Dude can trade. Dude can't improve the culture required to be successful.

Picked with 54 at age 24. Only 21 games. An average ball winning defender/forward with a kicking efficiency below 60%. Last minute recruit to *.

Nah. I would not have done that trade.

Perhaps he would have been okay to bring in a few years ago, but not now. Especially with the list sizes shrinking.

I've come around...the win doesn't matter, we've got players we need, at a price we can afford, at the time we need them.

We also have a bit of room to breathe now...the margin for error has been so thin for so long, and we now suddenly have 8-10 first round picks sitting outside our best 22. We now have assets to further refine over the next couple of years

SOS said a few years back that a finals list is easy, but a premiership list is hard. I think we are near the latter.

38 (465points) +48 (302 points) total 767points trade for dogs pic 26 (729points). Please make it happen Nic.

dogs might be done. Didn't the AFL introduce a rule where you can't just accumulate picks for points but you have to have list spots for them, or did they scrap that rule again?

How's this attempted spin from Ned Guy...oh boy they don't think much of their fanbase do they?

"On behalf of Collingwood I would like to thank Adam for his service. He was a committed and strong performer for us and we wish him well.

For some time we have held the view that this year’s draft represents an excellent opportunity to address some of our needs. We think in the short term we can improve from within but we can also now strengthen the profile of our list for the medium and longer term. This deal improves significantly our ability to do that.

With the draft assets we now have, we also have the ability over the next couple of weeks to explore ways of improving our draft position further."

Yeah...you traded all these players for huge unders because you really wanted to get into this heavily compromised draft...

I think it would have been more prudent to just be honest and say “yep, we’ve stuffed up the cap but we have now got that under control and in a very good space.”

To me the story sounds very much like

100% should have made some admissions they didn't get the return they maybe would have liked, but now their salary is in a good spot and they can look at targets in the draft and next year's trade period.

Instead he just denied there was a fire sale and acted like this was all part of the plan and they traded these guys out for peanuts because they think it will improve their list...so, so dumb. He even said he thought the talk about their salary cap issues was 'a beat up'...lol seriously??
