Just had a call from my old tennis hitting partner - mad keen long term Cats' man.

Said Fogarty is class. Unlucky with injuries this year and could see why he wanted opportunity elsewhere.

More importantly, when I uttered those two best unspoken words (Lang and Smedts), he laughed and said Fogarty was "several levels of class/skill" above those two....

And, as he highlighted, still very young and with plenty of scope to improve!

The heat will be on our 2017 draftees in 2021!

Im only just catching up now, but Saad for pick 12 (in points and thats ignoring the late shuffle). Its overs...but not massive overs...I'll sleep on that just fine.

Fogerty for pick 40 (points valuation) is fine too....unlikely to get a player of his quality that late in the draft anyway.

Yep pick 12 for Saad is overs - but after it slides to 15 or 16 not by much. I thought he was worth 20-ish - so we got it done with a slight loss. No big deal.

Yeah, that's right - lets reassess after the draft when 8 becomes 10-12 and 48 comes in to 43-44...and lets just see what players that lands.

Those highlights are pure cream. Harry and Levi will froth getting those kicks from the centre of the ground.

Whoever is going to be the decoy has to be accurate in front of the big sticks.

I don’t get we why we didn’t go to the draft and select saad with 8 if we were going to do this deal and Essendon get absolutely nothing, we don’t get that extra pick but i would hazard a guess we could have got Fogarty with a future 3/4

Because he would be gone by pick 8 in the National Draft. and cost us far more in dollars in the psd.

His Gold coast highlights are very similar to his Essendon ones. but we gave up pick 8 for him while he was uncontracted yet Essendon gave up pick 35 while under contract.

Nah mate. I’ve been a GCS member (due to location) for 7 years. Watched him first hand every week he played for GCS and followed his progress after he left (wasn’t happy he left tbh).

His highlights are similar because they are just that .... highlights. That just shows him at his best / flashiest. So more of a snapshot of what he was capable of, hence why * went after him. He was very raw and untamed at GCS.

He’s a significantly better, more consistent and composed player now than he ever was at the Suns.

Just watched Saaaaaaads highlights. Harry will be licking his lips... creates chaos when he runs. Harry will be very happy with Saaaaaaaad and Williams bringing speed on transition and chaos.

I'm also sure that other clubs that are looking for points will come looking for our later picks.

In perspective....... Williams - Saaaaaaaaaad - Forgarty. Not a bad little group for a trade period.

What’s there to complain about

Even better....over the past 2 years we've brought in Saad, Williams, Fogarty, Martin, Eddie and Pitto, basically for pick 8 and a 4th round pick (Betts).
Pitto was a 4th we got in for AP.

Not a bad haul for four fifths of * all.

Couple of things.

definitely pisses me off that it’s * and Dodo that we slightly overpaid to. But now let’s all have a shower and wash that stink off us.

looking at the collective result, I think we should be pleased. At this point our recruiting should be geared towards definite best 22 players, and we’ve brought in two of those. Our team will be significantly betternext year as a result of this trading/FA period, and that’s the objective, yes?

And as it’s been said, if there was ever a draft to side step, this is it. Next year’s powder is dry. Now let’s win some goddamned football games and have some fun.

Now that our business is concluded essentially, a day head of schedule no less, I'm half-expecting and hoping we chime in with a little bit of ladder hopping to move up the draft order with a club like the Dogs.

Wouldn't mind a sneaky left-field recruit, too - but would almost certainly spell the end for one of Polson/Macreadie.

I'm not sure I share the excitement on Fogarty. I'll admit I haven't seen a lot of him but based off his stats he's a low possession midfielder that doesn't kick many goals.
