He'd actually be a good fit for Sydney.

They lost Aliir so could do with some extra KPD cover.

He's from NSW so wouldn't be against a NSW move your think.

There's a player they have up for trade that would be handy.
IIRC, he was going to a Victorian school and loved it there, but when GWS picked him to be a part of their academy he was shifted out to a NSW school and he hated it up there. It's up to him, but I don't know how likely getting him to agree to go to Sydney is.

I'd personally like to see LOB kept for one year and I like Macreadie as depth given no Goddard or BSOS on the list now. But understand one of them has to go. Probably Macreadie as its easier to pluck a Sam Rowe type from the VFL than Lochie who could still become an Issac Smith clone maybe.

Helps them, doesn't seem to help us though.

Our only real depth KPD for borderline-22 mid/tagger?

As with Zac, Henty is a lot ****ing closer to Melbourne than it is Sydney.

Nope.

We have to have a meaningful use for whatever we get. Don't mind if it's "unders" on paper, provided we have a plan.

Would be worse to get an on-paper "win" and then be left wondering what we're going to do with the pick, only to find that we draft...another LOB.

Yeah I agree, should have made it more clear that this late in the game I meant that I doubt we'd have a plan for the pick we get for him and we'd take it to the draft, hence having to get overs for it to be worth our while.

Injured, requires surgery.

Would rather the posters above be left alone to find and share information not already in the public domain.

Cannot see the value of a pick in the 2nd round for LOB or Macreadie.

Still see so much upside in LOB. Not a good year this year but can see great improvement next year based on his earlier years. A 2nd rounder ie. anything from 19 to 36 doesn't rate him that highly. I'd really like to keep him. We WILL regret it if we let him go..

No we won't. Personally i just dont see a footballer. A second rounder would be nice. Carlton made a living from holding on to the wrong players for too long. It's time we became ruthless and not hold on to a possible/ maybe player.

The playing kit and boots while running around on the MCG during an AFL sanctioned game doesn’t give it away?

Sam Edmund says he can confirm LOB is staying
Good no benefit in trading him at this stage, unless we can get some KPD support I think we will call it a day, even then it would be hard unless we use future picks as we need 3 picks for the draft.

Great news that no one wants to leave and players want to come, we are in a very good position heading forward with our only real needs being a small forward and KPD support.

I do wish people would stop with this compromised draft bollocks.

Every draft is unpredictable after 3-5 selections.

Pick 8 holds just as much value as any other year given f/s and academy players existed in drafts before this one and were never draftable by other clubs anyway in reality.

Pick 8 will still give a team this year access to the 8th player that is available to all sides.

So it's value isn't diminished in any way by the draft order.

Lastly it's not about drafting a player with it, it was about getting maximum value as a traded commodity I terms of draft capital for it.

We didn't achieve that.

Pick 8 holds less value because it is really, really unclear who the best 8 players are. Half of them haven’t played in 12 months or more. There’s 3-5 who stand out, but it’s pretty open after that.

The f/s and academy stuff doesn’t matter as much, but it simply isn’t a great pick 8 to have (compared to day, 2018 pick 8).

Pick 8 also holds less weight for us because we really don’t need more developing draft picks. We’ve got oodles to top-end talent that we can’t fit in the team as is. We are adding Saad, Williams, Fogarty and really only losing Simpson from last year - when we already had Dow, O’Brien, Stocker, Kemp and to a lesser extent Kennedy, TDK, Marchbank etc mothballed. Pick 8 is just going to struggle to make the 22 for a good while yet.

All this ‘maximum value in terms of draft capital’ is silly. No one wanted to trade up and split picks for the reasons above. This is what we had to trade, it’s what Essendon wanted

And at the end of the day, we have the player we wanted - who fits our system really well and makes us better now. Given the quantity of young guys on the list, this trade makes total sense and haggling over a third round pick upgrade is silly
