What do you think? I’m starting to think Austin doesn’t rate this draft, on the outside it seemed we were always happy to deal pick 8, just haggled with what came back (I think we could have done a little better), we didn’t trade out any players which I think says a bit, he and the club obviously think they have talent or the club aren’t to excited about the draft or maybe both.

Quite a few clubs carried over picks from last year, we entered minus a 4th rounder, obviously not trading out any players makes it hard to improve the draft hand.

I'm actually looking forward to what we can do with #38 and #48. There's a good test for Austin.

Not pessimistic as such. Just that we didn't bring in A graders but lost a very good pick. I'm happy with our pickups in terms of how they will fit our side.

I like that our players don't want to leave, but the reverse of that is we are going to have to force some out next year. I'm really hoping our standalone VFL team will show us some serious development so we can make informed sources.

A few high draft picks are on the chopping block next year otherwise.

I would have thought Saad and Williams were A graders?

Us, Brisbane, Dogs & Saints are the only teams who brought in quality players and got a lot stronger without losing anyone.
Maybe Port with Fantasia and Aliir as well.
Geelong improved with Cameron, Smith & Higgins although they lost a few talented kids in Cockatoo and Fogarty.

Outside of that there's not much of note...most clubs treaded water.

Clubs that clearly got weaker for 2021 include Essendon, Collingwood & GWS.

How sweet it is.

Witherden as much a loss as Cockatoo/Fogarty I'd say based on games played. Geelong are all in for a flag but who wouldn't want to be all in for a flag when you've just been well up at half time in a grand final.

Looking forward to the final delistings across the comp now. Eagles had a couple of interesting possibilities. Mind you, we don't have a lot of candidates to get our list down either
Will be a lot of AFL quality players sent packing. Can see us picking up a Majak Daw/Matt Eagles type Swiss army knife.

Maybe not a popular opinion but I’m happy there’s now more room for Stocker/Kemp to play in the middle along side Cripps. Yes, they’re still rookies essentially but I’m less concerned about those bigger body types being thrown into the fire early.

Throw them in, see what they’ve got. Worst case scenario, throw Kennedy in there.

Adelaide have done the wrong thing re Hately, should have offered a fair trade instead of just using the PSD because they could, bad form.

Disagree here, the Crows offered pick 40, it’s not great but it’s not a nothing pick and the Giants knocked it back, dumb as business there, there is nothing to gain by not taking the pick

OMG - Post of the Year on Pies board!!!!!!

“Ned Guy has just been employed by Dan Andrew’s to lead the new and improved hotel quarantine program for Victoria.
Should go well.”

Just watching his interview on delay on Fox. He is literally taking no blame for this shitshow at all.

I’m actually glad we didn’t land Oliver this trade period. Would much rather see how the squad sits in 12 months time, with our inclusions, and monitoring the development of Setterfield, Stocker and Kemp.

Don’t want to waste a huge amount of cap space and a couple of early picks on a guy who might end making only a marginal difference.

We are still in the stage of working exactly how our squad fits. We’ve covered off speed and ball use in this period, and another 12 months should show us any further gaps.

Pies would have found any taker other than us or Essendon even if they offered less.

They knew they were going to get reamed. But to get reamed by a hated rival? Only if you're utterly desperate and the Dogs and Roos saved their bacon.

Clubs don’t and can’t choose clubs for players to go to in any form, the Pies pushed out Treloar who didn’t want to go, it seems most were out off by his contract but it seems most didn’t even ask how much the Pies would stump up.

If we were interested, I think Treloar would have loved to come to us and if we convinced him to come then we could have pushed for the same deal, the Dogs are a stronger side than us, giving them Treloar makes them even stronger.

They needed to get rid of him and the Dogs capitalised, they squeezed the Pies good.
