So you wouldn't have been happy with any of Clarkson Lyon Scott Pyke?

That’s a vast oversimplification of my comment, which referred to my perception of an over emphasis of a single criteria. Not that it should be disqualifying.

I’ll stand corrected but I don’t see a coach past 2010 that won a flag with their second or later club as head coach. It’s hardly a well trod path to success in modern football.

To go through the list, if I must - of course I would have been delighted with Clarkson particularly, his credentials as a head coach are impeccable. I was never in favour of Scott. Lyon ultimately disqualified himself and while he’s no doubt a great coach his conduct over the last few weeks gives me a bullet dodged vibe. Pyke also has some learning to take on from his first gig but also had clearly more success than Voss first go around and given his role in designing and instilling an effective game style with Sydney would have been (from the cheap seats that I occupy) a safer bet with serious upside.

clearly, Voss’ credentials as a head coach are flawed. More flawed than any name you mentioned. Has he learned from that experience? He’s due huge respect for his commitment to stick with coaching despite the early flameout and he’s obviously dedicated himself to rounding his experience and skills.

time will tell, but he handled himself very well today and I feel more comfortable about it than I was prior.

So your insinuating
Mods this flog needs to be banned
Fyi champ do you think jon was the only president that did dodgy things to help his club
Think again bud

I'm not getting banned for remaining silent you campaigner.

Here is 1 fact that is actually true. Nobody knows how Voss is going to go. The jury is out. The facts will come by round 22 next year or maybe earlier. Everyone can say Voss is great, Voss is crap etc etc. The proof will be in the pudding next year.
I dont care what Voss says, i dont care what Cook or Sayers say. I dont care what the players say.
I have heard enough bs come out of this club to last me 30 life times.
Stop bloody talking and just do it.
Come round 22 next year the next game better be a finals game. Anything else is a fail.

Because " As the saying goes, if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all. "

Defeats the purpose of a forum one would think ....

My view, Ross was offered the job before Sayers had the brakes put on by the Board.
I really doubt that because if that was the the case Ross would have told the whole world as much.
There was some other reason because - and I keep coming back to it - why would Lyon turn down a 4-5 year contract at $1m per year?
Either way everyone needs to accept that neither Clarko nor Lyon will coach us next season so let’s get behind Voss.
Voss comes with risks but he seems super keen and also has the sort of personality/pedigree that he has the confidence in his own ability to be a success.

he is correct - sayers jumped the gun

Listening to Voss talk, he knows he wasn't the panels first choice, so don't think he'll come in with an ego. He will be very keen to prove himself as if he fails with Carlton, he'd be incredibly unlikely to get a 3rd attempt.

When I think Michael Voss, I think champion, three-time premiership player who was uncompromisingly tough. What he did after having his jaw spun by Scott Burns in that Grand Final is one of my all time favourite AFL moments.

If he can coach that sort of attitude into our playing group, we will win flags. I’m not convinced that what happened to him as the Lions coach is at all relevant to him now. He wasn’t a terrible coach then, FWIW and was given the job at 34. He’s been great as a Senior Assistant at PA, I think he’s ripe and ready for us.

If you’re unconvinced, check the Voss thread on the PA board. They seem to have preferred Ken leave, as opposed to Voss.

I’m pumped.
I agree. To be honest, having a go at being a head coach early, failing, and then spending the next 8 years as an assistant could be what actually makes him. My bet is that he has spent a lot of time over those 8 years reflecting on what went wrong and changing/developing/learning. He is now ready and fresh in mind and passion to go again. That is a powerful thing.

Disagree completely. I put him in the same category as SPS and Fisher. Bang average AFL footballers.
Let me guess, all flash?

Some footballers look too good in attack, tricks people into thinking that's all they got
