It amusing that we call them Queen's Birthday holiday and no matter what state we in, it nowhere near her birthday and also no one actually celebrates about her on these days. Maybe some old fuddy duddy does like John Howard but rest of us, it just a public holiday long weekend.

From google..

Is Queen's birthday a national holiday?

The Queen's Birthday is a public holiday celebrated in most states and territories on the second Monday in June, making for a much-looked-forward-to June long weekend. ... She was born on 21 April 1926 but her birthday is celebrated on a separate date.

Best thing, and what annoys my English in law relatives, they don’t get a public holiday at all for the monarchs birthday

Given that our ITKs have gone dark, and FA and Trade period won't start until the end of this week, I can see all sorts of mayhem on this thread... Good thing it's not a 'Fact Thread's...

Never understood that phrase.

Do poorly behaved people only wear one shoe?!?!?!

EDIT: Looks like it came from an 18th century kids book
Further to which...

Although The History of Little Goody Two-Shoes is credited with popularizing the term "goody two-shoes", the actual origin of the phrase is unknown. For example, it appears a century earlier in Charles Cotton's Voyage to Ireland in Burlesque (1670):[7]

Mistress mayoress complained that the pottage was cold;
'And all long of your fiddle-faddle,' quoth she.
'Why, then, Goody Two-shoes, what if it be?
Hold you, if you can, your tittle-tattle,' quoth he.
The name is used herein to point out the mayoress' comparative privilege; "Goody" (a shortening of "Goodwife"),[8] being the equivalent of "Mrs." and "Two-shoes", implicitly comparing her to people who have no shoes.

Fascinating!! Thanks Ferris for a fun side-trip.

Best use of the phrase was in Army of Darkness.

I’m sure this is common knowledge but what im observing is that each club looks at the strengths of their list and builds a game plan around those strengths.
Hawks had elite kickers so they played the possession game,
Dogs got one in 2016 off the back of manic pressure,
Tiggies frantic forward ball movement and having dusty up there,
Now dees doing it with their potent midfield group

Are these fair comments?

At this stage Im not sure where our strength is apart from H up front being a super weapon.

I think our weapon will end up being the run and gun from half back

Our forward line does look our most potent group imo. Therefore it makes sense to enhance our midfield as much as possible in order to give our forwards more shots on goal. Adding Cerra and Hewitt, then Voss working closely with Cripps, Walsh, Dow, Fish and Bam Bam. Should see all of those improve to varying degrees. I am most excited to see how Dow responds, been a slow-burn thus far. But he will be worth it. Cripps could be a much better player next year with improved focus on what he really needs to be doing. I would also be rapt if Williams puts in a huge pre-season and ends up having the tank to play midfield. This is the reason why we recruited him and his explosiveness would add an extra dimension to our midfield.
