Time to move on now, I was a big Ross fan but I thought Voss spoke well today, I'm aware that doesn't mean anything in the long term but it was reassuring. Cook has been involved at the pointy end of the process as well.

He has gone away and worked on specific areas he identified and I like the fact he never gave up trying to get the senior role.

I too would not have selected Voss, but now he is appointed I will support unconditionally.

But I do need to make a final comment that IMHO the process was shambolic and chaotic.

In my opinion at the outset RTB got told he had the job if Clarko didn't want it, and he had already said no. RTB, went ahead and sounded out his assistants only to get a call from Sayers saying mate I can't get you across the line with the Board.

RTB hung out to dry because he was allegedly involved in an incident, which didn't go before the Courts and had been resolved. Yet, days later the AFL is happy to parade former criminal Ben Cousins out on the red carpet.

The hypocrisy is palpable.

Now we get to a press conference appointing Voss, and we have Cook answering questions about offering the role to a different coach in the days before.

And let's also acknowledge the handcuffs the committee had placed on them by the President stating we will appoint an experienced coach. Poor old Kingsley, he didn't have a chance.

I'm all in, but don't tell me we ran a proper process, and let's hope it all works out.

I think you’re wrong on Ross Lyon coachb, I so highly doubt he was offered the role at all.

IMO He was prepared to go through a process just not with the people on the panel who were there to select the winning candidate. Was also probably pissed that “the process is not the same process for every candidate” yet the only one that had a different process was Clarkson.

He then decided to strategise the situation and effectively ruled himself out which turned off the President completely. No coming back from that and he knew it.

Ross has an image problem, that was clearly pulpable across the industry when he he put his hand up originally. Pot shots coming from all directions.
I truly believe if he really wants to coach as the head honcho again he needs to rebuild his image. That could be Director of Coaching type role or senior assistant, it won’t happen but he’d be the perfect candidate working with Voss

I'm pretty much won over in the one afternoon. I was very critical before the appointment, used to be the first to roll out the Craaaazy Vossy digs, but feeling very happy and optimistic right now.

I'm reasonably certain that without the crazy injury run we would have made finals this under Teague year (even with terrible defensive structures) despite having no such expectations at the start of the year.

So I think I'll be a little more circumspect and wait until about a years time.

If we'd landed a Lyon or Pyke i'd have been plonking $500 on us for top 4. That's how optimistic i'd have been.

Will be keeping my money in my pocket with this appointment.

Alternately, given your lack of confidence, why not stick your neck out and plonk the $500 on us to finish out of the 8.
