He follows through with an external review and actually adheres to its recommendations.
The review will be happening with or without Clarkson as coach. There will be plenty of casualties either way. If Clarkson goes to North then a separate panel will have to be put together to find a new coach. There could be an external review and a search for a new coach happening simultaneously. And we will have put ourselves in that position, with limited time to get things settled before the draft and trade period

See that's just it though. Look at how we've chased AC without a panel. I'm not confident they would actually enact a proper process. It just wouldn't surprise me if it's more of the same.

When do exit interviews start? They obviously have conversations with the guys that might be retiring in the last few weeks of the season, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are delistings that already know they're gone? The ones that are staying or inconclusive would happen after the season is done right?

AC is a different kettle of fish. You barely need to interview him, he's interviewing the clubs. If you miss him theres no one else with that profile. We'd need to interview multiple candidates, which is something we haven't done properly in 40+ years.

Monday

I reckon all supporters want him and already talking themselves down just in case he does not choose their club.
an extraordinary situation.
I categorically didn’t want anything to do with Clarkson before Monday. I just didn’t realise Essendon would proceed to self destruct over the following 72 hours that would make Clarkson the least worst option.

So I don’t want Clarkson, but he is the least worst option now that they’ve gone ahead and made Rutten’s position untenable through foolishness.

Or it's the last chance to speak before the weekend (having left it as late as possible to hear from Clarkson hoepefully), and knowing that they had to say something before the game this week and before Trucks scheduled press conference on Fridays.

It's the Rutten press conference still going ahead that stumps me.
Yeh you surely pull the rutten press conference
The journos will be like seagulls

Usually next Tuesday - Thursday

Well Carlton was micks 4th club…
Clarko is still so invested, he wants more flags
Malthouse went there to spite Eddie
I mean Clarkson could choose Essendon to spite Kennett given that Mitchell, like Buckley with Malthouse, took over from Clarkson. Clarkson didn’t even want to proceed with the succession plan.

You know the parallels are there. Don’t fight it. Embrace it.

Clarko is a totally different type of person though
Spite for him would be coming to essendon and beating hawthorn in a grand final and turning their rivals into a powerhouse again.
He wouldn’t come to essendon/ any club and not put in any effort and just receive a retirement check.

Or the next Malthouse at Carlton.

I'm seeing this invoked a lot and it seems odd to pick one of the, what, 9 or so V/AFL coaches to have coached flags at two clubs as a point of negative comparison.

Clarko is going to Nth. There is no way he'd be holding a presser if his termination was announced 2 hrs earlier. His presser will be to discuss the game against the tigs and Hurley's last game
If they announced he wasn't holding a presser tomorrow there wouldn't be a need for either of them to have press conferences.

I will throw up a crazy scenario - Truck agrees to coach the last game of the season, despite knowing he is being sacked/we are heavily chasing Clarko?

Coaching the last game of the season could be trucks choice

You don’t know that until he coaches Essendon. He may be having flash backs of Lloyd’s hit on Sewell every night waking up in a sweat and remembering how much Monfries disgraced his proud and designated “tough guy” Brown by taking his slap with ease.

After Kennett’s antics, what if he takes a year break after realising that the Essendon coaching position is not open, brushing aside other big clubs like Collingwood and Carlton with ease. He only has one club in mind. Then GWS and North come knocking, but he sees that Essendon started poorly so holds off. He seduces the Essendon board by letting his manager contact them to register his interest and causes absolute chaos.

At last, the opportunity to destroy Essendon from within arises. There is his opportunity to finally get back at Lloyd by destabilising his favourite club and setting it back at least another 10 years.

I do just want to say, regardless of whatever happens, I think it's been quite disgraceful of the media (and the Kangaroos) to keep hounding Clarko and pushing for answers and putting him in a state of feeling like he's negatively impacting others because of him wanting to decide his own path in life. From North constantly asking him if they're still a chance like a nervous guy 10 minutes into a date, or the media following him at every corner in public - it's just been sad to see. But I can only half-assert myself into that view because I'm guilty of watching said impromptu interviews.
