Nice in theory. Practically though, can you not see any problems surfacing? I think it would waste another year at least.

The problems i see would be, where does it leave our teams on field fortunes? Will there be player confusion for the pre season and going into next year? Why keep working at a gameplan that is going to be changed again? Why even stay at the club when theres so much uncertainty? Should i back Truck and go 100% or should i have another half arsed year, i get paid either way.

You can say oh the players are professional it'll be business as usual but we've already seen Hurls and Merrett this week complaining about lack of transparency from the club. Its a mess right now and would be next year trying to pretend Truck is our man.

Pretending this week has been good business would be classic Essendon though.
After thinking about that, I can't see why not. If the players are behind him, they should perform well. Results will dictate the rest.

Ah no
He’s not going to come out and say people are going to get sacked today
They run the review and if the review says people should be sacked, then they will leave.
He was pretty defensive about Xav and the whole board, Rutten, not so much.

Basically said we'll see what happens to Ben on Sunday. All roads point to the sacking on Sunday which doesn't make a lot of sense as it'll be difficult to get PWC to run an external review on Saturday and get an outcome.

He said the review and coach is separate. Review is of whole of club executives and of football operations. It’s clear Ben won’t be coaching next year.

Was a trainwreck as soon as he went off script but honestly, no matter who was being asked the questions, nobody could've done a good job there.

I don't mind him. Seems like an honest enough dude with good intentions. First of many steps I hope.

If there is a replay or transcript of that rubbish, i would love to see it. Did he say they make a decision about the coach on Sunday. Did they say they would look for a new coach if needed in parallel to the external review, did he say positions are not being reviewed, is PwC (or you know, one of those Big 4) running the external review?

He said Xavier has a contract in place - basically backing his position. One of the journo's then jumped into say so does Rutten. Annnnnd he danced around it.

Rutten is gone on Sunday.

The best part was when he shut down Tom Browne

I **** with that

The coaching role needs closure one way or another, you can't let Rutten hang in the breeze for a month or six weeks while a review is conducted.

I totally get that. It's just unfortunate as hypothetically the review could find that he was on the right path.

I expect Rutten will be gone on Sunday after being given the chance to exit gracefully on Saturday night. I also expect he'll land on his feet like Knights did and I wish him all the best. Hopefully the players show some fight for him and Hurls.

I don't really get what Saturday night has to do with whether we keep Rutten or not? The decision must have already been made, no?
6 goal win, 6 goal loss, 100 point smashing, what actual difference does the result of round 23 in an underwhelming season actually matter?
Either we don't like what Rutten's doing and he's out the door; or we are confident the foundation is still being laid and he'll be the coach next season

The decision has been made I reckon.
He's gone on Sunday.

I did say X had plenty of credits in the bank from steering the off field into a strong position after the saga.
It may suck but it is how it works.
