his answers are fine. much more questionable is giving an interview to Mark Robinson. Why not literally anyone else in the the AFL media landscape? Or go onto AFL 360 instead of a press interview.

If the club has cut out some of the people who Robbo has notoriously gotten his stories from throwing him this bone is probably smart practice.
It gives him the avenue that when Robbo speaks to these people he will likely go to Barhan and fact check with him, it's basically putting him on a lead.

His answers were fine as you said, and if people are seriously upset about the interview being with a particular journalist then I think your just looking for things to be mad about.

I hate when people just go looking for things to be mad at

Not exactly sure what the issue with that interview was to be honest?

He said exactly what he should of.

It's this. Slobbo's sources at Essendon were Dodoro and Sheedy. He has been a mouthpiece for them and their ilk for years. Now they've been cut from the herd the club has clearly thrown this old drunk a bone in the form of this "interview".

Unfortunately this industry is filled with parasites like Slobbo and the clubs need to appease them and their egos in this manner.

I think there were ok but he did (unsurprisingly perhaps) skate over some stuff that could have been quite insightful. It read like a politician's interview at times.

Yawn so after 3 years they’ll then start to move players on. Yeh real fighting words
If they are not sooking it up about something the AFL is doing then the presidents speeches are hardly going to be a lot more than standard box ticking.

Going into the third season now and we are still talking about getting effort from our players.

I also think it’s time to reflect on implementing a contemporary game day strategy and building a list that can support it. (I say this without having watched all of Barhams address)

Selective quoting I think. He did say it but it wasn’t a pointed remark, just a generic ‘you’.

He was in the middle of crowing about all the progress we’d made in the last two years and pumping up the people that have been appointed under his leadership. Talked about the premiers and other powerhouse teams and how they have high standards and strategies in place across the entire club that give them an edge, and how we are establishing that now.

He made specific mention of a couple of areas, including raising standards among the playing group, but also detailed list management strategies and investment in the facilities.

Exactly what you would expect him to say if he wants to highlight his own legacy as a reformer getting the club back on track so we can stop sitting out of finals.

The most interesting line imo was actually the part where he said “whatever happened before the reset doesn’t matter”.

It was what I thought a standard type of speech as such. Problem is the patience factor. Supporters do not want to know that it will take time despite the messaging being about building a more professional program from the start of Scott's time. Too many people wanting something as it is two years in and not really knowing the first year in was more a review of the club by Scott and Vozzo and what you could say was a wasted year and the real work started from last pre season.
In real terms nearly all the changes in the football department are 1 year old and the simple fact is in the AFL wholesale changes tend to take 2 or 3 or 4 years to develop. Throw in the inevitable situation that not all player decisions (list and selection) will appease and the patience wears thin.

It is why I sit on the fence a lot and argue some of the points. My view is despite the angst about another failed start to a rebuild it has to see its course. Was also thinking yesterday that maybe I am not as desperate to see success as others as I have seen us win 4 flags and been there to see them live. Also the other sporting team I have as much passion for , the Panthers , are now lining up in GF number 5 in a row and have won all 5 of their premierships in the last 25 years and I have been to 3 of them. Maybe I have had it a little too good to get totally despondent about our current plight despite wanting to really see the red and back back at the top end.

Could also be the lesson I learnt from my late step dad who followed Fitzroy . For him following his team was being able to go to the footy every week win lose and draw and savor the wins when you can. His team was not the defining factor in his mood in life. Happiness through family , friends and a nice but not extravagant income from his business drove him. There was always next week and when the Lions merged he simply moved on to following the local footy side and going each week and volunteering there where he could.
