mate none of the district second graders are happy about the current situation either. they never play on synthetic either and to do so in 20/20 is a load of shit. its very embarassing and gives provincial clubs the wrong idea about the district comp. some of the grounds being used for the second grade 20/20 certainly arent fit for use in senior cricket, what was the go with using dederang 2? it was embarrasing for the district clubs hosting tallangatta and raiders and a shithouse days cricket

Wait til North and St.Pats turn up to play on Howlong,s No.2 oval this weekend, that,ll b funny.
Also heard it was pretty close to a punch up in the Howlong v New City game last weekend so could b an interesting day if a few ales are consumed this weekend with New City being the other team in this group

Anyone got tips for this weeks 20/20?
Mine for the Birallee Pk games are:-

* Tallangatta by 80 runs over Baranduda
* Raiders by 25 over Dederang with significant changes to both teams

Anyone know of any player movement across the 2 comps?:confused::confused: I see Hodgkin has returned for Tallangatta, while there are persistent rumours of Markham getting sacked and that there is bit of in-fighting at the Titans. What about the much heralded West Indian import headed for the Panther Dome???

CAW might be in for some serious legal problems after deciding to play today's games in 44 degree temperature, already 3 umpires have pulled out due to the heat. Our lower grades in the comp aren't made up of 25 year old athlete's where a lot of them are unfit or older players well into their forty's and early fifties in some cases. What happens if someone suffers a stroke or heart attack on the ground? Mr O'Donnell and his pack of cronies might have some serious questions to answer. Anyone's thoughts?:confused::confused:

totally agree ith TC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we are all athlete's in different forms and handle conditions differently.Just thought maybe CAW should go to melbourne zoo and watch the monkeys hide in the shade when it's above 40 degrees .The monkeys have more brains then CAW or should I say M.O'Donnell.Lets hope they have a board meeting and come up with a plan of attack for the heat....:p

What gets me with the heat saga is how come some games were played yesterday in the heat and others weren't, surely if that looked like being the case why not call the whole round off and make it fair for everybody?

Anyone know of what is going on at Titans at the moment? Read fridays paper and along with McLennan out there were about 3 or 4 regulars who weren't picked too, Markham included.

Yeah I'd say they are f*cked, forfeiting c grade, players leaving or given marching orders, and no juniors. Things don't look good for old SS & S !

After reading the weekends results surely Yack would be the club that would get relegated? Even if they dont finish last i'm sure they'd gladly step down a rung. Raiders and Titans don't have great lists but shows how difficult the step up to provincial is. Dederang and Kiewa would have similar problems if they were forced to be promoted as they have similar sides in age and ability to what Yack had the last 2 years. Is promotion/relegation format worth it?:confused::confused:

The Raiders did have a tough year.Missing out on points due to washouts, smoke outs and changed of draw.If they had played all those games they would be above Yack but only just.Yack will want to go down and hopefully rebuild there club on the field. The final round well be a blinder in most grades. There will be some sorry players next weekend after just missing out on finals action. In C Grade the top 8 is jammed pack with anything possible.

Here's a good question: If you can fight against promotion can you fight against relegation????

Well thats just cricket, guess what ?? Raiders are last and that is it !! Cry me a river........................they only beat the worst team in the comp all year (Yack)and got smashed by the third worst, (Titans) but Yack did beat St Pats so bad luck to them !!!
I also believe if you are relegated, then you are relegated, same coming up, thats the rule !!

Fair point GD, the rules are the rules but will the Titans be in the comp next year? Read todays paper and they only had 10 in the thirds and no b grade named.

Titans will fold if relegated.
Think u will find thayt they must play the higher grade game and it was a typo and should have read B grade.

Nope they forfieted their seconds and one of their thirds. playing the other one of their thirds side which is a big no no..........
they should have pushed their other third side up to play seconds......
Yack and Raiders will be spared going down to district by the rabble which is the Albury Titans..................

After reading all the crap the tossers on BigCricket have been posting lately i think its time to get the Border Cricket forum going again. There has been some interesting off season news which has made great reading.
*Restall all but committing to Titans and then off to St Pats leaving them with only 2 bonafide A Graders (Gilson and Plummer). Relegation favorites at this stage.
*Yack regaining Martin from Kiewa will only help bolster their line up, chance to sign Stevie Mac and Logan Hayward as well.
*Will Dixon help make a difference to Dederang being a success in the Prov comp after the losses of Day, Purtell etc?
*How will Belvoir's established line up respond to the new coaches methods? Is Mallichan's defection to the Hoppers an example of this?
*Baranduda struggling at the moment, poor numbers at training and loss of quality juniors aren't helping their cause.
*New City (Lavi C.C. of the 90's) on the verge of promotion with the addition of Steve Baker and a couple of Titans.
*Raiders rebuilding for the long term after the defection's of Dixon, Lodding and Spencer to prov club's could still surprise a few of the better teams with some up and coming junior's while their pommy import is an unknown quantity.
*A number of clubs are skeptical about the use of Sommers balls replacing Platypus for this season.
*East Albury and Lavi pretty quiet at the moment, possibility of Wright not returning to the Panther Dome this season.
*Ditto for Wodonga except for Williamson's retire and possible loss of Hayward.
*Dads Army (Barny/Chiltern) topping up with a few for Wodonga players, dunno how they will go standing out in the sun for 80 overs.

Should make for an interesting year of cricket for the CAW season.:thumbsu:

After reading today's big scoop in the paper we might have to get this forum goin again. I for one don't wanna get sued for talking up the mighty Sommers balls:D:D:D

It was pretty dumb to insinuate that someone was on the take in order to get a new brand of balls used.
I hope his name comes out so we all know who the moron is !:thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

well it looks like big cricket has closed the CAW thread .......but for howlong!!!!!
With the ball saga I bet bowlers would love them if they got more wickets!!!! After reading the border each saturday it doesn't seem to give a shit about district comp. How bout they start reporting the game a bit better instead of getting there story of mycricket results.Come on we all play for a club and it would be great to see some of our players in mondays paper. Also behind the wicket is a joke.It always go back to Belvoir players doing something special. Why don't they go around to each club and do a story on a player who is doing well for that club????

just wondering if belvoir don't make finals would that been seen as a poor performance ???? To only win by 6 runs against titans was lucky!!!:confused:

*Stevie Mac signed up with Yack and expected to play this week

*Powles from Raiders to be playing after Christmas adds another bowling allrounder to their side

*Richard Harvey coaching Bruck in the Wang comp now he's left Baranduda

*CAW forum has been closed off the Big Cricket website

*Wood, Restall and Daniel all selected for Vic Country, how can the latter two get picked for Victoria when they reside and play for NSW based clubs?
Especially when CAW participate in Konica and SCG Cups and do not play Country Week anymore.

well after last weeks washout Belvoir are sitting 6th.About time they got there!!! What will CAW do this week if it rains!!!!!!!! To all those teams that won on first innings in the first week those points will come in handy towards finals.:thumbsu:

I think u will find Belvoir r not in the 6 as all teams havnt recieved thier points allocation from the washouts.
Interesting all the crap with the balls, just run in bowl the bloody thing and if it falls to bits get a new ball, how bloody cool is that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

well sorry about that but I think they are still enjoying it!!!!!
Yeah with the balls it's a joke on how much crap it has caused. In the end they are like tyre's once they wear out it's time for new one's. Let's get on with the cricket!!!!!:thumbsu:

Raiders have a big test this week against MT Beauty. Got out of jail last week with the washout. Let's see what happens this week. Will belvoir win?? How will dederang go? Hopefully it doesn't rain so will can a good round!!!

I wonder what the chances are of CAW calling this weeks round off early with the wet weather? I can't believe some of the knobs in the area are happy to hang around til 4 trying to get a result when there is no chance of getting on. Plus it means i can get to the TAB earlier:D

I hear that the Sommers Ball from the NEW BATCH split in half at the Nth.Albury v Wodonga game.
Should make for an interesting week ahead.

Looks like the last week of Sommers balls, 11 fell to bits on Saturday and they were made of Australian leather. And to clarify things Castello is a rep for Sommers equipment but has had nothing to do with balls and if people doubt this the CAW President told me.:)

robbie jackson certainly reminded us of what he can do with the willow today scoring 158 as the dogs piled up 350 against the patties today, it was a fantastic innings by arguably the best bat in the comp...

Anyones thoughts on Baranduda pulling their A grade side out of the comp mid year? Personally i think they should have stuck it out as they weren't the worst side in the competition. Howlong has endured many season's of thumping's yet front up year in, year out. If success was the measuring stick of the comp there would be only 5 sides (New City, Raiders, Kiewa, Mt. Beauty and Brny/Chiltern). West Wodonga went through a similar thing 3 years ago but chose to stick the year out. However, due to no support from the council they had little choice but to merge or fold. Maybe they might have to consider moving back into town in the short term (eg. to Willow Park) and train at Mitchell H.S., while they are in the process of building decent facilities out there. At least they will be able to recruit from the Albury/Wodonga region as their numerous amount of juniors from the Baranduda area aren't ready to play senior cricket.
