I'm starting to warm to Boyd as our next captain as well. Seems to have grown into the leadership role. Good to see him chair off Aker after his 300th as well. Showed a lot of respect.

To may way off thinking people can't be happy with Brad as Captain if these threads keep popping up off who should replace him.

Is that the general consensus out there? Isn't he doing a good enough job?

I've got the feeling that Johnno will be captain until he retires. I just can't see him handing over the captaincy while he's still playing.

Some have asked how Boyd is seen around the club - with great respect! He is a great role model for other players, with his professional approach to training and playing.

Boyd would make a brilliant captain. He ticks most of the boxes. The only genuine other contender imho is Bob. Where Boyd is inspirational, Murph does have that inate ability to turn a game, whereas Boydy is simply consistently very good. I too believe Higgo and Coons are too young, but realistically speaking, if Boyd or Murph is made captain, then a pup should be VC for a couple of years as part of a succession plan.

As most have noted, we seem to be rich in potential leadership.

I agree, I think Boyd would be an excellent choice.

The other obvious candidate that hasn't had much mention is Dale Morris. For anyone who's met him in person, you'd note he is highly intelligent, well spoken, and a genuinely good person. I think he also sets an excellent example on the field as well as off.

Pehaps it demonstrates the addidtional maturity developed by players having to graft their way into AFL careers through local footy and the rookie list. In my opinion our two strongest candidates are ex-rookie listed.
