Boyd instead of Adams

His father played centre half forward for Hawthorn when Peter Hudson was playing...evidently he was locked in to playing full forward but Hudson was thought to be the better option. He was then traded to Geelong and played in the 1989 grand final and kicked a bag of goals... so I think both of those teams could pick JC up under the father-son. I think we should stick to the Boyd strategy. From what I've heard JC is a bit like Bucks when he was younger.... very opinionated and focused...but unfortunately he doesn't seem to be focused on his football. He mightn't be a good fit.

Yeah stick with Boyd. I heard JC had real problems with the coach at Jerusalem. Apparently Iscariot took him under his wing and he made some bad choices.

We should never give up picks 10,11,27 to eagles for pick 6 ??????????????????????????????????????

Pies rumour is picks 11 and 27 to eagles.

Pies get pick 6,but pies are wanting more than one pick.

Eagles are desperate for Elliot yeo that's why they want our second round pick 27 for yeo and they can still play in top 20 with pick11.

Collingwood happy to take pick 6 but are asking for either a later third rounder or player from the eagles

I wouldnt believe that guy. It seems that he did a Dale Thomas and changed sides for a lousy 30 pieces of silver...

I think it would take another big player as well as pick 10 for us to get pick 1 from GWS.

They'll hold out for something like Shaw, Beams/Sidebottom/Pendles/Swan and Pick 10

So basically nothing that we'd be keen to give as the payoff of Boyd would ruin our existing list too much.

Shaw, Pendles & pick 10 for pick 1 - ROFL!!
If we ever did that I would have to be admitted to hospital for uncontrollable spew burping

I'd do it for the right price.

Say somethin'

Something.

In all seriousness, Swanny is a club legend that almost won the Brownlow this year. He is one of the reasons we have been so dominant for the last few years and signed up for unders with us when he could have gone elsewhere.

He has made some mistakes, but he has also showed a willingness to atone for them and has provided more than enough to justify himself as valuable and important to Collingwood.

He is getting on, but he still seems to have at least another 2 to 3 years in him. Despite 'losing all his mates' he has shown a willingness to stick around and play with the club he loves.

He has won a Brownlow and numerous AA's and BnF's.

Trading him for an unproven pick is a very reckless and disloyal, no matter what number it is.

Decline and trade adams to geelong then get Shaw to walk to them in the PSD where they have the first pick

GWS have a lot more leverage to use than us... shaw has already agreed to join them whilst Adams still has other serious suitors, we can't push them around.
Shaw is contracted and cant go to the PSD. Thank god.

GWS finally have a player that wants to go there that isn't a relatively young unproven player (Scully, Davis and lessor extent Ward) or a pensioner like Power, o'Hailpin, Cornes and Brogan. They are under some pressure here to, to get the deal done.

Just hold your fire for the time being.

I agree, and if Swan was a year or two younger I wouldn't consider it, but as of right now, I reckon I'd still trade Swan for picks 1 or 2 given our recruiting the last couple of years I'd bet Bucks and Hine would get a 10 year plus superstar. Swan has maybe a year or two at his best.

I mentioned it in passing on another thread, but I'm starting to think we should have a real crack at Patton. Getting Boyd is looking at near on impossible, but I think with the right packaging we might be able to pick up Adams and Patton and still keep a first round pick. Subject to a medical, don't want any degenerative knees exploding on us!

There's talk of GWS offloading Bugg & Buntine to Melb for pick 2.

If true, maybe GWS will be more likely to trade pick 1 to us but I just dont know what they would accept in return.

You would think they would only be interested in a trade for players.

Shaw on his own wont do it so who else are we prepared to offer?

J.Thomas - I rate him but if we get Adams he will be surplus
Fasalo
O'Brien

we could then use pick 11 on Adams

meaning we get:
Boyd & Adams

Lose:
pick 11, shaw & J.Thomas

Excuse me for not concentrating too much on what people type in these forums. However, I have a question..

Are the same people who talk about disloyalty and have a liking to kick players like Dale Thomas who chose to leave.....are these people the same ones who talk about trading current players at the drop of a hat....without even asking the current player if they want to be traded?

Am I the only person in the world who sees a slight contradiction in what these people post? Maybe these two attitudes are not coming from the same people. Maybe there's one group who want to treat players like pieces of meat and another group that is consumed by loyalty to the club.

I know there are a lot of 12 year olds posting. I understand that they dont make much sense at the best of times. However, the contradiction both amuses and astonishes me....
