Not happy.
Will never get a player as good as Ebert with pick 28.
Ebert will be a great player for Port.
Will most probably captain them one day.

have to turn over players to improve

ebert was not a player we could build a premiership on. we have done well get back in the eight, but the next step is one that is tough and will require weaknesses to be ironed out

ebert was one of our weeknesses.

any draft is a risk shep, masten, notte, swift, etc

i for one this year really saw signs that ebert was never going to be an absolute gun.

for a guy who had played as much as scooter, he had failed to make that next step for consistency. the mistakes he made with slow reflexes are things that you can control and he never seemed to try address them.

in saying that, he will be a decent player for port, even maybe more now that he is happy in his surroundings.

this board will be all eyes on whoever we pick with 28!
the 'ebert replacement guy'!

Maybe pick 28 will net us a reasonable player.
GWS will be picking players position by position rather than best available.
Might mean a good player will slip to pick 28.

Disagree on Ebert. He will be a good solid best 22 player. He has been improving and will continue to do so. Every team needs a Rowan Jones (ie, underrated scapegoat) and he was at least more capable than him.

The post trade cognitive dissonance is already in full swing and the trade hasn't even gone through yet.

Tell me about it.:(

People, instead of moving posts into the relevant thread, because frankly I'm getting sick of it, I'm just going to delete posts. Concentrate people, draft/trading thread is for draft and trading, Ebert quits is about Ebert quitting (funnily enough), and 1 of the many Josh Hill threads (soon to be less) is about Josh Hill. My U11 footy team shows more concentration, and that's not a compliment. :p

Continue on. :):thumbsu:

neh, rojo was an absolute running machine who was a fantastic blocker.

ebert just floats around and kicks it worse than rojo.

Kills me to say it but Ebert's already as good a player as the Rojo ever was.

Similar sorta hard working, team orientated (hmmmmm.), strong player with just a little more talent. Also a much better kick, Ebert's kicking has been greatly over criticized.

Rojo well under-rated here.

Rojo's scrubby shanked kicks > Ebert's out on the full floaters

in terms of hair:

RoJo >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Ebert

Wow, I can't believe you actually listed Sheppard as a draft failure. You serious?

Masten I think will surprise you also, I can see a big year for him in 2012 now that he's entrenched in our best 22. Too early to write Swift off too.

Disagree on Sheppard, Masten and Swift.

For crying out loud, six days and still no Ebert trade! Ridiculous!! So damn frustrating! All I can say is PA can't be too anxious to get him.

Wow. Don't think anyone needs to explain their thoughts/opinions in great detail to a sack of shit nothing like yourself.

Ok, but would like to hear your reasoning please.

I would like to hear anyone's reasoning as to why they think Sheppard is a draft failure. Even if he ends up a dud, to claim that at this point would be a very immature call.

Masten is starting to come on a bit, and Swift was always going to be a project player (after losing 2 important years of development as a teenager). At this point they certainly didn't come on as smoothly as first hoped, but again, the jury is out - you can't label them duds. Another year is needed.
