Brad Hill

As much as I was a fan of Des, he had so much unfulfilled talent. He really should have been more of a weapon for us because he was a damaging player especially up forward. Wasn't consistent enough at Freo and I'm not sure that can all be attributed to the players he played with sherrif

Yep no point blaming others for a players form

I am not sure who thought that Crozier for B Hill was a good idea but I have to question their judgement. I hope it never happens.

It's trades like this that push my button. Somebody crys about going home and suddenly it's a worthwhile deal. Ahh please think again. What does Fremantle actually gain by swapping players. We are not a charity just because someone wants to come home/play with their brother does not actually make it a good deal. If another club wants to offload then let them.
If this trade happened it would look like the Croad trade to me and in 5 years we'll be saying we got done over.
B Hill looks good because he is in a good system and Hawthorne knows that they can make Crozier better than B Hill. They are laughing all the way to the bank on this one. Whilst SC and DT score are meaningless for many things they do give you an indicator of average performance and Crozier is plus 5% from both of them. In short a trade of B Hill for Crozier would require sweetening from Hawthorne to be worth it for us. Their round two pick is practically a round three pick and I would be asking for better than that.

Agreed, you make a trade to win, not break even or even lose it.
Hawks are forced by it with Hill asking for the trade, we aren't.
Either a trade we win or wait till next year

Quick question... How did this whole scenario go from "Brad and Stephen want to play together" and therefore Brad is seeking a way (not necessarily this year) to do that through a convo with Ross has been turned in to "Ross wants Brad Hill desperately, Hawks should play hard ball because he is a contracted player"? And even that West Coast should pitch hard to try and steal him or at least push up his value.

F**k I hate the biased Eastern-states media. And the idiots that believe everything they read/hear.

I think the way this will likely play out is pretty straightforward and I am sure Freo and the Hawks aren't having the ridiculous conversations that are being reported in the media. Both clubs will try and make it happen but if either party loses too much in the process then it'll be delayed by another year, and repeat until they reach agreement or he becomes a free agent.

Freo don't really need Brad Hill right at this moment - we may bounce back next year but we still have plenty more to do before we are premiership potential again. Hill wants to come home but also seems mature enough to know that it may not happen straight away. If anything it should be being reported as us in the box seat. He wants to come to us (to play with his brother), so if anything we get the discount on the trade. It's f'in Cam McCarthy all over again. Whenever it is one of our players wanting to go home, it's reported as "we'll be lucky to get anything".

Hawk's board is pretty funny to read. Someone said a straight swap for Neale (ha ha ha ha). And then another evaluated Hill as a top 5 pick. ffs. The word 'elite' got thrown around a bit. Brad Hill, good player, but certainly not elite. A fair value is late first, early second imo. Given he has initiated the conversation about wanting to come home I think early second rounder (or equivalent) or we should keep waiting it out. We need to start winning trades we have the advantage with, not bending over.

No drama. But IMO you are underestimating the importance of having good inside mids in helping an outside player play well. If Brad Hill was a good as player as Des he would be worth a pick 15 - 18 was my point. For the record I think we have the right group of under 26 inside mids in Neale, Fyfe and Blakely (Balic perhaps as well) for Brad Hill to play well over the next few years if we could recruit him.

I'll throw bricks at the Footy Department if we trade Crozier for Hill. Ffs Hill has off-field issues.
The person who told me works in the industry and doesn't lie. However things can change.
I have given Crozier some thought. THESE ARE JUST MY THOUGHTS.
Crozier could not get a game preseason.
Was behind all the new boys.
Only got a game when he was just about the last person standing at Peel.
Then maybe someone from the Hawks rings his manager and asks if he would be interested in moving back to Melbourne .
What would you do.

Nah.
More like:
Hill had some preseason issues. Clarko gave him a massive serve. Hill then decided he wanted to go home and to Freo. Hawks went piss off then, BUT kept an eye on our young players. Crozier starting getting some game time and doing well and so they said let's pick him up.

I know Hill is young, but the thought of giving up any youngster does my head in. Much rather just give them a pick and if they find a gem so be it.

Crozier and Langdon have a reasonable way to go and although Hill is 23 I dont think we'll see him do anymore in the game then what he's done.

Pick 25 for mine. Now to find that pick!

I thought he would look at coming back to WA before he signed his last extension with Hawthorn. Certainly Hawthorn plan everything and the chance to spin that they are being really helpful when in actual fact they know his form is dropping, he is homesick/having issues and they need the salary cap room is not one they are going to pass up. Buy low sell high for them but our priorities should be pick 3, McCarthy first then Hill then a late round or rookie ruck
That was his great mistake that he didn't come back then, considering his past two years. As you say b. hill is not in our top priorities. There might be someone better than mccarthy?
