30ish/early 30s I would imagine.

Either way, he still goes good, and he's a good bloke to have in the pack to help the new generation of Brisbane forwards handle first grade, especially now that Tallis is gone.

I'd expect Thorn to spend most of his time in the 2nd row, and I think Corey Parker would be best suited to pair up with him, along with Learoyd and Thaiday from time to time.

As for Carlaw, he's got work to do IMO, and plently of it.

It's a fair reflection on the Broncos that players that leave by choice or are squeezed out because of the cap, are quite happy to return to the club.
Brad had a lifelong dream to be an All Black and pursued that dream with the best wishes of Benny and the Broncos. The reason is that he had more repaid his debt to the Broncos with years of good service and a few premierships.

Wendy on the other hand, while repaying his debt to the Broncos by giving them his best football years, went for the money. The challenge of Rugby reason is a myth and utter b/s. Nevertheless, Wendy is still welcome at the Broncos.

No doubt Thorn will replace Tallis and the role he played. IMO Thorn will be much better than Tallis in the past few seasons. In other words, the Broncos have retained much experience in the 2nd row while getting a better quality player (at this stage of their careers anyway).

Still only 26? Somehow I thought he would have been that old when he left. Mind you he started with the Broncs fairly young so he could be.

Has been gone for 3 seasons or so IIRC.

Brad Thorn is 30 years old, not 26.

Interestingly he says he can't compare the 2 codes and loves them both equally.

I thought i read in the Daily Telegraph he was 26... Either i read it wrong or there wrong (Not a big surprise hahaha)

Very diplomatic.....

Would makes him very unique in this country I think.... ;)

He is definately 30. I met him in a bar in the city when he played against GB in the Junior Kangaroos 10 years ago. He was with Mat Rogers, Mat Sing and Anthony Mundine and he would have been 16 if he was 26 now.

Big bastard!

Watching footage of him last night he looks even bigger and buffed after his stint with the Canterbury Crusaders.

He is definately already in fine shape. Lets face it, this guy is never going to be skinny. From the footage yesterday it looked like Brad could walk straight into a game.

Remember he has just finished a season with Canterbury

*cue argument that all union players are unfit fat slobs*

But he played league for yrs, so he knows the what he is in for.

nearly got a good bite, i'll try again later ;)

The NPC is a decent comp. Unlike the joke that is Australian Club Union, The NPC has support and a more physically taxing atmosphere. The players probably get more out of playing proper union in it than the debased wallabyleague brand of union played in the S12's.

But I suppose they need to play that version of underskilled union and underskilled Rugby League to attract decent crowds in Australia :D

Interesting to see he wants to play SOO again.

Odd that a Kiwi who played Union for the All Blacks can play SOO, but a Kiwi who plays League can't.

The difference is that Thorn is eligible for (and has played for previously)the Kangaroos ...

only the forwards, but they're not spose to be fit & mobile!!! they're spose to be big fat ********** who can ruck & maul and retain possession of the ball for the teams backs to make good use.

The fittest players in any rugby side are forwards.

And yes Parra, you make sense. I feel the same when it comes to Fijian and Samoan rugby union.

Yes I know they are supremely fit. I'm simply saying they have a different type of fitness that doesnt allow them to be as mobile as their League counterparts. This makes them look fat and slow, but thats part of their job. You wouldnt pick a smallish mobile prop in a Bledisloe Cup.

No I was referring to backrowers.

In both codes the most mobile players are backrowers. They do the most work and run the furthest (throughout a match). And I hardly think you could call someone like Jerry Collins fat and slow.

If you're simply talking about props than I'd agree with you, but they do less work at the breakdown than other forwards...they're shaped as they are for scrums. If there were no scrums props would look the same as backrowers.
