so you guys will have lost pick 12/ hendo which was bad enough, add daniel bradshaw to the blues, thankyou very much guys.

have fun with that dumb drunk fevola.

ps- this is not trolling, merely saying have fun with fev, as you will for 1 or 2 more seasons than we will with braddy, and thanking you for hendo and 12.

We will, thank you! See he's at a club that tries to win games now. 9 years is not a re-building stage, it's just pathetic, no wonder the poor bloke drank! I would too.

I really don't want to be seen as one of those supporters that runs a player down when they leave a club... rest assured that as a supporter, I love Bradshaw.

But one thing you can say about Bradshaw is that he is a professional, both in a complimentary and a pejorative sense.

He was never adverse to stringing out contract negotiations with the threat of a move back to Victoria. Which is fine.

He had no issue with missing a qualifying final to be at the birth of his child. once again, completely fine and understandable.

Clearly, football has never been the unchallengable and all-consuming priority in his life... completely fine and understandable.

He is a professional who is good at his job and has made a great living out of it. I'm not saying he doesn't have affection for the club, but issues of financial security and his family are clearly very important to him, and likely carry far more weight to him than the idea of being a "one-club" player. Clearly these issues have been factors in his decision to "test the market" as his manager has put it. There seems to be a fairly strong message of "making hay while the sun shines" here.

Let's not forget that he has an offer from the club. They may or may not have insulted him, but they certainly haven't abandoned him.

Our desire to see him as a one-club player clearly exceeds his... completely fine and understandable.

Summed up well TBD. Despite being one of my favourites, he has never struck me as a real 'clubman' who bleeds maroon, blue and gold, or a player who holds his footy accomplishments high on his self worth ladder. Is the kind of guy i would expect to disappear into the back ground after he retires, despite being a great player.

If he leaves the club, im sure its not on bad terms, i can understand that if you have 10-12 years to earn money for your family of 4 kids, you'd want to make the most of it. Its not easy coming out of footy in your 30's and trying to find a new career. Well liked ex-footballer doesn't do a lot on a resume, only for media commitments, and to me, i dont think he is the type for media.

Spot on you guys... this is what we spoke about during the period where we offered him up for trade.:thumbsu:

Theres a whole lot of people claiming that footy has turned into a business and Vossy has lost heart and soul and... and...

Daniel Bradshaw has always played footy as his profession. He has always made it about business. I cant recall a player who hasnt been more business like when it came to his job affecting his life.

Contrast that to players like Merret who implicitly trust the club to offer him a fair and reasonable contract and who virtually dont read it before signing it... thats loyalty. Or Brown who has stated many times he wants to be a one club player.

Bradshaw has never put the club above himself - and thats entirely his right. It is after all just a job... and at the end of the day he is just an employee... and hes smart enough to know it.

He has every right to be unhappy - I know I would be - and I think Braddy is a great player who has helped us achieve success over and over. I admire his on field demeanor and the fact hes happy to fade into the background off the paddock. He never once caused upset or chaos... he was a true professional... but then again thats exactly the point. It was his profession to him, nothing more nothing less.

Reality check.

Bradshaw will be replaced by Fev. We have him covered. We'd be seriously screwed if he was a mid fielder, but he's not.

The cards have fallen... Thanks Braddy... it was great having you here, thanks for your time and service to the Lions and I seriously hope you play out the rest of your career however and where you want to.

We'll miss you... yet somehow I suspect it will be more than you miss us.

Sorry but this is BS! WTF Bradshaw?????????? you are 31 and I feel a 2 year deal was ****ing generous considering you have alot of issues with your Hammy and Back!! To be honest guys I feel that Bradshaw is the one who is expecting too much from the Lions

I'm not happy about this, why would he expect the Lions to give him a 3 year deal? FFS

To be honest he wanted to leave in the first place its got nothing to do with Fev, He was happy when Lynch and Brown shared the foward line with him its absolute Bullshit.

Don't forget guys this isnt the first time the there was talk about Bradshaw going elsewhere its happened at least 3 times that I can remember during his years as a Lion.

I hope you get molested by a horde of rampaging antelopes.

P.S. This is not trolling/insulting. Merely wishing you the best of enjoyment with associated wildlife.

How about Brown + Fevola for 5 years with Hendo in the wings?

Problem is Warwick, Hendo doesn't want to wait in the wings for 5 years, as good as that would have been. Could we play him as a 3rd tall ? i dont think we could. I think we could only get away with that if the 3rd tall was as good as Bradshaw. Cant see the mids looking for Hendo when they have Brownvola to kick to.

Bradshaw still would have attracted a few his way though.

Am i the only one that 'just has to' play the keyboard cat when its posted ?

I never get bored of it.

Such an awesome cat.

And have you ever seen a cooler shirt than this...

His manager has said that the Brisbane offer was a decent one so I just can't see how this is being turned against Vossy.
Had a sinking feeling when I first read the thread.

But, having taken time to read all the posts, I've had time to settle down.

He may have felt put out by being used as trade bait. However, if he did use the "going back to Victoria" card during contract negotiations, then I would have to say that he overplayed his hand this time.

If Browny couldn't get a 5 year deal last year, how could Braddy expect a 3 year one?

Didn't get a game with Bradshaw in the team really, was never going to get one once Fevola came on board. Seriously the amount of things I've heard about Henderson lately you would think the club lost 20 young players. However the way the club went about trade week involving Bradshaw was not something I am pleased about at all, I hope this is addressed. No doubt with Bradshaw walking out, a clear message will be sent.

And the message is...?

Don't forget guys this isnt the first time the there was talk about Bradshaw going elsewhere its happened at least 3 times that I can remember during his years as a Lion.

Agreed loyallion. I think Braddy has really left it too late to start again. IMO he is a higher risk than Fevola, because of his potential for body break down.

What hasn't been mentioned, at least I haven't seen it here, is what would we have done for a FF if Braddy broke down or retired next year ???

We'd be stuffed. At least with Fev, we have a gun forward who should give us 4 year's.

I love Braddy as much as anyone, but he is nearing the end. I'm more annoyed at the circus that existed during trade week, where he was "frog marched" around Visy Park like a condemned criminal. That was not a good look for our club or the player's concerned.

Good luck to him if he can screw 2 or 3 year's out of another club!

Yeah, great point... its a shame those guys were ever put in that position.

Makes you wonder if we'd feel the same way if he just up and quit...

Understand, but bradshaw although a very good player is 31,carrying injuries Fevola will be devastating with brown in your forward line.
Plus lachie henderson may or may not work out.Pick 12 carlton may pick up,a good kpp who may be good in 5 years.

So easily brisbane won that deal i reckon.

Not if Fev is found guilty of these sexual assult charges Afl ready to impose a lengthy susp if the women involved comes forward.

BAD MISTAKE BRISBANE.......All they picked up was a distraction he wont change. Thats why Carlton booted him so Carlton won this deal.

Can you guys blame him for wanting to be traded?

Vossy just dangled him out there like he was nothing, told him to pack your bags and you are off, all for a dumb drunk named Fevola. How could he be expected to stay? He agreed to terms to the Blues but Rischa didnt want a bar of it. He was always going to leave you guys as soon as his name was mentioned.

Dont be bitter Lions, you have got the 2 best forwards in the team, just had to give up far too much to get him.

THIS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(maybe Voss knew Bradshaw was keen to go anyway, hence the traidbait?)
Dont know why they didn't manage to construct a deal featuring perhaps Bradshaw and Pick 12 to Carltank, or Bradshaw and JMac or something along those lines???
He must have been keen. Wednesdays news must have been spoken about previously, surely?? they can't be that uncommunicative. (I know they're footy heads, but they're not NRL)

His manager has said that the Brisbane offer was a decent one so I just can't see how this is being turned against Vossy. There are hard decisions that need to be made and I'm just glad that our club has the gumption to make them in seeking A grade players when they are available.

No he was quite happy with the deal offered by the Lions ...however he was very pissed off with the way he was treated during trade week ..and can anyone blame him ???

The Fev deal has cost the Lions Henderson pick 12 and now Bradshaw.

I hope he can get to Carlton, but i doubt he will make it to our selection, but whever he ends up i understand and respect his decision.

So now that Bradshaw is gone.. who do we put in his place as that third mid-tall forward with sure hands and can kick 60+ per year? Or is there any potential in the PSD (sorry, I might have my drafts mixed up, the one with all the rejects)?

Side note: if he doesn't want to be here, i'd rather him go. Commitment is what we need from our players now.. Vossy has a game plan... and only 100% committed players will help us get there. I'd rather Braddy go then ride the team for 2 years (not saying he would).

I assume Danny's eyes were opened up after being shown around the exclusive surrounds of Princess Park - and once you're open to the possibilities, well .. there's a sh*tload of clubs looking for a ff. It's a shame ( but that's how it played out ) that - again - we won't get anything for this.

The Dogs would be a little annoyed as he's a safer bet that Barry - and the Pies could really do with a gun up front. IMHO it's these clubs - on the cusp - that should be keen.

If and when the dust settles on all this, the balance sheet make look a little red - and the pressure is on the following .. Voss, Fev and Rischa.

Why couldnt he put himself up for trade in trade week? then at least we could have gotten something for him.

Bit of a selfish move. Not that theres anything too wrong with that, as it has been mentioned before a footy player only has a certain amount of time to make an income. BUT surely he would have had an inkling that he wanted to move two weeks ago...
Clearly he's got no respect for what he's been given by this club and will now sadly end his career with a whimper playing a year or two for fans and teammates who dont know or really respect him, for a bit more money.
Its a bit sad i reckon.

Thanks for the memories tho braddy.

These issues have already been discussed in this thread.

I like how Carlton supporters have suddenly become Bradshaw experts in the last 2 weeks.

Just like how none of them knew who Hendo was. Now they're experts.
