I don't get the angst at Sier?
Big bodied like Wills.
Both would be inexpensive players.

Sier might have great projection- worth another year.

Don't get why people don't want him to have a solid pre season no injuries and we see what we have.

Otherwise people bleet we don't develop players or they go elsewhere and do well etc.
The 'angst' is largely because he was a pick from left field, our first in the draft, a player who no one knew anything about, and who so far hasn't done anything to suggest more should have been known about him. Sure, let him have a good pre-season, though past experience indicates that to be unlikely. I would like to think he might be deserving of a 'bleat' or two, but doubt that any farmyard sounds will be required. Sier may indeed have 'great projection', but there again he may have next to none at all. 2018 will be the Year of the Sier.

As I've mentioned previously for new players.

Brett Anderson mentioned Sier as a smokey pre draft, so he was mentioned pre draft.

Brett Anderson said on SEN there were clubs interested in Sier around the mark we had a pick, or thereabouts, so we pulled the trigger.

Just because a player isn't mentioned with the usual cattle drive doesn't mean he can't be a prized bull.

And he was a player what pick 32?
Hardly like it was top 10 pick.
Usually in the 30 range a player has identified flaws and there is a so so strike rate. So unsure why Sier isn't any different to others in that range?

Who was identified pre draft by all the experts in their previews from 32 onwards that's become a really good player?

He may very well be a bust, wouldn't be the first, but going on his size and potential I'd like to see him get a big pre season in, hopefully be injury free, and see what we have. And he's cheap.
No brainer for me.

Doesn't work out, it doesn't work out.
Because I'm unsure who we could have got (by all the experts) that has gone on with it anyway.

Still the 4th or 5th youngest guy on our list. I think he's worth giving 2018 to see what he could be.

I liked his draft highlights, but haven't seen anything of him since.

If there's even a 25% chance that he could have a similar development curve to a Josh Kennedy, he's worth retaining for another year at least.

Plenty of gun mids say that it takes 3 full pre-seasons to build up the required fitness & get used to the pace of senior footy.

There's always a Merrett or Hannebery that seem to slot in straight away, but Sier is bigger bodied like Kennedy & Jobe Watson - who only played 5 games and averaged 11.0 disposals in his third season btw...

He’s a spud. Wasn’t the 2010 premiership team the youngest ever. Means nothing.
2010 was the 21st youngest ever on known records.

No but I’d rather delist him and pick up Ben Kennedy.

I'm more confident now that he'll have a career given what you think of him.

So, when BenKen did one of his rare good things, he would have been a... potato gem?
His first ten or so games for Melbourne were really promising. He was bursting out of packs and kicking goals. Don't really know where all that went but if he was able to produce that regurly I'd take him over a fair few players on our list.

Promise means nothing if you cant deliver. The fact two clubs have now got rid of him says a lot.
