WFL walks out on Baghdad Bombers faithful, eyes Dragons FFC.
August 25th, 2016 has become the new July 8th, 2010 or September 29th, 2011 for the plethora of fans who support one of the biggest Sweet F.A clubs currently in the competition, the newly renamed Baghdad Bombers.

If we here at QR were punters (let's be honest, some of us are) - we would put money on your August 24th not being all that interesting. Perhaps you awoke from a dream about the time that girl in daisy dukes winked at you, you went to your *amazing* job, and went to sleep that night after kicking back with a cold one?

No? Well, that's how ours was going. Then it ticked over to August 25th. Awoken by a notification from the Sweet F.A officials reading 'Bombers delist WFL.' - yep, that's right, it happened.

For those like us who follow Qooty like a religion, constantly refreshing our smart devices or smashing the F5 or CTRL R button in hopes RU_ won't take more than 20 minutes between posting the simulated results were in utter shock and awe early this morning as the news broke rapidly that WFL wanted out and I think we were more shocked when beez allowed WFL to leave the club.

The wider-community of the Sweet F.A should take a look at beez and the way he has carried himself and handled this situation. There is not much that can be said other than what a man of class. He could have very well made WFL be lost to the league (and we don't want another second season player going wondering off, it was heartbreaking enough when Willo_ broke our hearts and didn't show up in Season 20) by dropping him from the squad and having him run the water bottles out for the Bombers until the end of the season.

QR had received rumours that a player from Baghdad Bombers wanted out over a week ago to join the Dragons FFC. Following up on the lead, we took a peak inside the Baghdad Bombers Rounds 5 match thread against the Roys FFC and took note of the posters who have not been around. One of them?

You guessed it, WFL. To the oblivious, that's no big deal, everyone goes missing now and again. However, it was more than that - a clear cut statement and confirmation that he was unhappy at his then current club and if his demands weren't met, he may very well be lost to the league.

Here is a quick timeline of events of arguably one of the biggest stories to come out of the league since the Dragons won the premiership in S19.

  • Round 1 - WFL opts to give the Bombers a shot, despite morale being low.
  • Monday, Aug 22 7 PM - Bombers captains seeks legality advice from Sweet F.A higher ups.
  • Tuesday, Aug 23 11 PM - Bombers camp issue statement against league admin - claims WFL wishes to join Dragons FFC.
  • Wednesday, Aug 24 - Talks between WFL and beez continue.
  • Thursday, Aug 25 12:09 AM - Baghdad Bombers officially delist WFL.

Upcoming superstar WFL has played 20 games for the Baghdad Bombers, racking up an incredible statistical profile which will surely be a boost to the Dragons on and off-field in their bid for the clubs second premiership. WFL made a name for himself last season as he would become the face of the Baghdad Bombers by being a simply brilliant poster while being a well oiled machine on the Qooty field.

WFL was a contender for the EKA medal and backed up his impressive season by taking him the Baghdad (Bandits) Best and Fairest award. He has a promising future ahead of him and could very well become one of the leagues biggest names in the next 6 to 12 months.

We caught up with the man himself this morning, we didn't manage to get much information in regards to other issues but regarding the straw that broke the camels back - "The biggest campaigner at the Bombers goes to iDon. Decides whats best for the team without being captain." - WFL also continued to say that "leaving the Bombers was easy when you don't have to have sex with goats anymore."

Yet to become official due to the Sweet F.A rules and regulations recently changed by the admin of the league The Filth Wizard, WFL will have to wait 24 hours before he can officially be signed to a new club.

The Dragons FFC have reportedly offered WFL a $4,000,000 a season deal with performance clauses within the contract. With many offers on the table, it will be an intense wait for those watching to see where the upcoming star lands at. Dragons are the firm favourites to land him.

WFL is set to see the remainder of S22 out with the Dragons FFC.
In cold and rainy weather this morning we had reporters at the Dragon Island airport to see if we could get a comment from any of the Dragons FFC players regarding the current situation that has taken the league by storm over the last 48 hours.

One of the leaders at the Dragons, cammo6556 was nice enough to take some time out before catching his flight to face the Warriors this Sunday when he had this to say:

"Personally, I think it's a huge get for us. Great bloke, great poster and not a hint of campaignerism in him. Just what we are looking for to help us in our premiership charge."

"As for the bombers... huge loss, but coverable. They've got a few prolific posters, and while I don't enjoy their stylings, they aren't reliant on WFL holding together a match thread anymore. On the field, however..." he continued.

THE COUNTDOWN - #WFLDEBUT

If all things go to plan, WFL will make his debut for his new club the Dragons FFC during their Round 6 match up against the Geelong Wolves at Dragon Island. His debut will be something everyone will be watching. Qooty fans will be fighting with their significant other for the TV remote to be witness to what is set to be an absolute spectacle. Bookmark the date. Be there. You. Don't. Want. To. Miss. This.

Linking up with the likes of A Swallow, Spanna_, VSTone, Determinant and veteran Andonis1997 in the midfield. Caressing it down the throats of Sam_Malone, chefmeister, Ljp86 & Only Forwards in the F50... Oh Bruce, howwww bloody deeeelicccioussss is that?!

*QR has no idea if the countdown is working or not

The club based at Dragon Island seems to be becoming somewhat of a 'destination club' for Bombers players as they seem to have trouble holding onto players who are set to become stars - cammo being one of them, and dual ALF medalist iBeng being another -

On Bombers player retention, iBeng who left the then named Baghdad Bombers in Season 19 had this to say on why he believes they simply just can't lock down superstars:

"beez demands first turn on all 72 virgins so you end up with just 72 disappointed females who have had sexual intercourse ruined forever for them. Also Papa Juggs used to pinch my butt every time we showered together."

Also weighing in on matters was the Sweet F.A Administrator, The Filth Wizard late this afternoon on SFA Radio 103.9. Asked about his thoughts on how all parties involved handled the situation:

"I thought everything was above board. I think the Bombers maybe should have waited until trade week but in fairness to beez the result likely wouldn't have changed and I laud him for taking care of business (I also laud him for the timing of his delisting, nothing wrong with ensuring the Dragons wait as long as possible to sign the player)."

This situation has again raised the topic of has the league got the rules regarding Delisted Free Agency correct and should it be changed going forward? He responded with conviction that: "No change whatsoever. It's there for this reason. The clubs and captains are in control of their lists. It was as clean cut as it gets and far more simple than the trials from last season."

HaroLad & Hoooops (L) - Fans burning WFL jumpers (R)
As mentioned above, August 25th will go down in history as one of the clubs greatest disasters as WFL announces intentions to leave the club and play for the Dragons. Visibly outraged, players (HaroLad & Hoooops) and fans took to the streets surrounding Abdu Prison to voice their opinions and spill their OH SO DELICIOUS tears about the situation that has taken place at their beloved club.

A hero has gone. A cult figure has gone. KohPhi has lost his better half. It is a day the faithful will wish to forget. Emotions are all over the place. Will the Bombers recover from losing the one who very well could have taken them to premiership glory in the very near future?

That's all for today, folks. Enjoy Qooty, always.

Epic, Premiership season officially on track

Actually a good read.

Whilst I do hold resentment towards WFL for leaving mid season, I do wish him the best and I hope he starts to enjoy his Qooty again.

This means we can further develop the exciting core of Hoooops burningdwarf Roo Beauty and others. #dicksoutforharo

I wish him the best, and hope that he steps barefoot on small, upturned pieces of lego every day for the rest of his life. :)
