Past Brendan Fevola #2 (2010-2011)

Seeing all that again reminds me of the days when our club had 30,000 members and made headline news for something as simple as our old FF accidentally smashing a window with a ball.

Give me 13,500 attendees for a club legend 'retirement' and 3 million in debt any day.

Interesting article in the HUN/Courier Mail a few days ago by Jay Clark on some of Demetriou's utterings -

http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport...f-field-fortunes/story-e6frepf6-1226389837989

Among other things, Demetriou is quoted : "They (Brisbane) only just finished paying out the Fevola contract today, so that's hindered them in their use of their (salary) cap".

Demetriou is also quoted as saying that next year's fixture should assist Brisbane in revitalising it's off-field fortunes . . .

I WAS on a blue bus crammed full of crazy people, going over the Story Bridge in the middle of Brisbane, when the true extent of my fall from grace hit home.
It was January 12, 2011. A little over a week earlier, I had been admitted to the New Farm Clinic, a hospital for people with mental problems that I soon began referring to as The Nuthouse. I was to undergo rehabilitation for a range of problems, including depression, alcohol abuse and a gambling addiction.
Seems to confirm he was on $1m/year...

kicked a lazy 18 for new norfolk yesterday down here in tassie.

The Brendan Fevola Show Kicks On
July 03, 2012 12:00AM

Fevola will make his debut in the 17th annual charity state-of-origin clash between Victoria and the All-Stars.

Fevola, contracted to Channel 7 for his appearance on the network's Dancing With The Stars show, was given a release to play in the game.

Last month he booted 18 goals playing for New Norfolk in the major Tasmanian competition.

Anthony Koutoufides will again captain the Big V.

Fevola declared bankrupt: http://au.sports.yahoo.com/afl/news/article/-/19210530/brendan-fevola-is-declared-bankrupt/

Controversial former AFL star Brendan Fevola has been declared bankrupt.

The Federal Circuit Court in Brisbane heard the former Carlton and Brisbane player owes amounts of about $15,500, $45,500 and $7000 to three creditors.

Fevola didn't turn up to the court to hear the judgement, while details of the court case were not discussed in court.

Registrar Murray Belcher ruled that Fevola had been given notices regarding the bankruptcy proceedings and declared that he had committed bankruptcy since June this year.

Can hardy feel sorry for him given he was earning close to $1 mil/yr at his peak.

I kinda do. He is not a smart man and football was his rare chance to set his family up for life and it's gone. Long road back from here.

One of those not so smart guys, probably with an addictive personality who was given everything at a young age. He should have been given professional help at Carlton, but as long as he was performing on-field I guess they didn't care until the scandals mounted and Judd threatened to leave.

He almost had it all and p***ed and gambled it all away. Feel a little sorry for him.
But then I remember how much we paid him and my sympathy is not as great. :(

Oh I think he has set up his family....Alex has a beauty/photography salon in Brighton....not cheap to set up anywhere, but in Brighton would be double everywhere else.....and she has a house as well I believe.

His ex-family maybe ... not sure that they are feeling a lot of responsibility back in his direction atm ... then again for all I know Alex may be a wonderful ex and he gets lots of time with the kids etc

I have had the impression they've been pretty much back together for quite a while, but each do their own thing....Wasn't it written that Alex got his payout from us at the time?..

I firmly believe she controls the money and looks after them all.....afterall, until recent few years, she has not worked much, just been a WAG ...so what she has, has come from Fev imo.. and her and the kids are doing ok thanks to Fev.

I remember seeing an article not too long ago that Fev and Alex were in Vanuatu and he was having a punt at the casino in Port Vila.

So based on that I thought they were back together... and old habits die hard.

Brisbane Lions' 2009 recruits: Where are they now?

The blockbuster trade of the 2009 off-season turned out to be close to the biggest bust of all time. Fevola played 17 games in 2010, for 48 goals. A solid return. But it all went very publicly downhill after that. The ex-AFL spearhead has been playing football in Yarrawonga in country Victoria for the past three years, as well as making brief cameos at various sides along the way. He is on the verge of a return to Melbourne to be closer to his family, with Western Region Football League reportedly interested in the 34-year-old.
