Re: Brendan Fevola

TBH I would be a little concerned if BoQ, especially one of Blackys branches, as some have suggested, financed him. There's not only conflict of interest, but it could well be counterproductive to his rehab. Brendan needs to learn gambling can get you into hot water, and if he has to downgrade a little bit I'm sure he'll still be fine as far as getting that sorted goes. Brendan's said himself, he needs to be responsible for this. I don't like the idea of interfering in that way.

Exactly right. He needs to suffer the natural consequences of his own actions. If you keep rescuing a compulsive gambler you simply enable them to get back to doing what they were doing (gambling).

THE troubled Fevolas were on the move as family friends said the couple were working hard to save their marriage.

Early on Thursday, the couple were busy directing removalists in Brisbane. Alex appeared anything but tense amid the turmoil, chatting easily to the burly helpers.

Friends would not say how long Alex would be staying in Melbourne, but said she was not quitting the marriage.

Re: Brendan Fevola

Obviously bias, but quite surprised that Fev's goal on the boundary is not one of the nominations for goal of the week...quite possibly a conspiracy at play.

why are you surprised, they do whatever they want with fev. how many times have players held him, so obviously, yet the umpires wont do anything. oh and im quite sure he is to blame for the whole melbourne storm thing. LOL. I am a little concerned as i have thought the afl have wanted him out for a while, i think they forced carltons hand. Andrew demitrio should just sack him, instead of finding him quite humourous. I love fev . it will be a sad day when the AFL does find a way to get rid of him. i hope he bags a hundred. succsess is the greatest form of vendatta. :)

FURTHER upheaval at chez Brendan Fevola came yesterday in the form of a removalist's truck headed back to Melbourne with his wife's belongings. Laden with a shipping container, its appearance added weight to reports the footballer's wife Alex is in no rush to return from her trip south.

Re: Brendan Fevola

Common sense is not allowed chopperduck;).......This sort of situation happens frequently these days....but of course in this case, the media have to make more of it..

Re: Brendan Fevola

things must be really bad for the fevola's. alex cant even afford new jeans :p

Very true Eons, but that story is for tomorrow's paper.

The crust of it is, they have had a contract fall through, it happens. They are now left a little stranded in a new city. If it was me, id send the family back to live with family and friends, that way at least they are stable. Furniture has to go somewhere, probably storage as you don't really want it back down in Melbourne only to come up again. I'd imagine some stuff will go with her though, because it is going to take longer than a week to find a new place, and she and the kids still need clothes etc.

Really feel for Fev. Not having his family here will probably hurt him the most. Hopefully it gives him good motivation for getting himself straight.

Re: Brendan Fevola

I think the media have overplayed his form somewhat. They like to create an on field/off field contrast, but I think he is going OK, rather than great. His chasing is often good, but there were one or two contests where he could have gone harder. He is giving away too many free kicks. Each game he seems to be playing more and more for free kicks rather than commiting to the contest. And his kicking for goal has been fairly wonky.

The good sign is that he is creating plenty of opportunities for himself. Obviously if you kick 17 goals in 5 games you aren't do too badly, but I think there is plenty of room for improvement.

Gossip columnists' loss is Sydney's gain as Bradshaw gets job done without the circus Fev brings
RICHARD HINDS
April 30, 2010

How close did Sydney come to signing the serially troubled amateur photographer Fevola? Close enough to talk with Fevola and his wife Alex in 2008 as the out-of-contract forward weighed up his future.

The Swans did not talk dollars and cents - Fevola later signed a three-year deal with Carlton worth about $700,000 per season. But they did listen, somewhat bemused, to the demands made, particularly, by Alex Fevola who was interested in how the couple's profiles might be enlarged in celebrity-obsessed Sydney.

''A bit like dealing with the Beckhams,'' was how the Swans assessed the informal discussions.

Re: Brendan Fevola

The Geelong Advertiser

Louder said she could see the differences in the way Geelong has handled the Stokes saga and how Brendan Fevola's battles have been handled, both at Carlton and Brisbane. The Cats went into lockdown over Stokes, while Fevola has been the source of constant public debate.

"The Brendan Fevola thing seemed to go on forever, while Stokes has been kept away from the media, the (Geelong) players didn't speak, they kept a closed shop," Louder said. "Whereas with Fev, they always seemed to be talking about it. Even with the most recent one with his gambling, even when he's at Brisbane, Carlton are still talking about it."

"(Geelong) has been very professional, they protect their players as people, which is a big thing a lot of AFL clubs don't do well. This is not just a meal ticket for them, there's a real person inside the jumper. If you protect the person you get the best player."

Re: Brendan Fevola

What a load of shit.

The press go into a feeding frenzy over Fevola and drive the whole thing, then they accuse Brisbane of making a circus out of him.

Stokes doesn't sell as many newspapers as Fevola, that is the only reason you hear less about him.

Re: Brendan Fevola

Why is he sparkling? Is Fev really one of those vampires from Twilight? If so, we need to get him off of the team. . . now.

Re: Brendan Fevola

Wearing the old jumper.

So that article isn't really about him, it was just a way to get some attention to his story.

Brendan Fevola calms pre-match nerves with Miley Cyrus

"It's actually my daughter's iPod, so there's a fair bit of teen sort of stuff on it. There's a bit of Pearl Jam on it but there's a fair bit of Miley Cyrus as well. "It just chills me out and helps me focus on what I have to do when I step on to the field. On the footy field is where I feel happy. It's where I belong."

Fevola led the league in behinds (16) before the clash with the Swans but sees the stat in a positive light. "We worked out the other day that I've probably had 40-odd shots at goal in five weeks, which is pretty good. Eight shots a game is going all right. I'm getting the ball at least. I just have to kick straighter to make the most of it."

Lions full-forward Brendan Fevola has booted a total of 596 goals throughout his career (575 with Carlton and 21 with the Lions). He needs four more goals to become just the 27th player in the history of the game to reach 600 goals.
