Just wondering but can anyone let me know what it is.

Much appreciated if anyone has heard what they call him.

I know Swallow is called Spitta and Leigh Adams is called Patch but not once have I heard Brent Harvey be called anything else but Brent Harvey.

Cheers from soon to be SydneyRoo

Not all infractions register as a colour, when a user has no priors (apart from being one of those supporters of course, the actual comment wasn't OTT).

Not sure if oblivious to joke

Or double sarcasm

Welll, a lesson in trying to talk on other boards :p

Perhaps you had to be there to get the joke. Craig Willis was brilliant. Such a pro.:thumbsu:
Perhaps I did, care to explain it? From where I was sitting, it just sounded like he kept on calling him Boomer for no apparent reason. He didn't do it with any other players.

Watching Craig Willi$$$ss go about it reminds me of Weekend at Bernies for some reason.

He's one of these hangers on that makes a healthy living hanging around the AFL while they squander money left, right and centre.

Anyhoo, it's not Boomer, it's Harves. Sam Power was Boomer. I think for his booming left foot.

I do a lot of MC work and you know that whatever you are doing there will be some people who love what you do and others you're giving the red hot squirts, no matter how hard you try.
Craig Willis has been around for years and is the doyen of MCs. He is a nice bloke and very professional in his approach. I thought he did a fine job last night, keeping in mind I watched the streaming.
Tony Charlton last year attracted a few critics too yet he is probably THE most professional MC I have ever worked with in any forum. Hope his current health problems are improving.
I suppose this is the sort of role that you will never find anyone that everyone loves.
I am interested to know who else this thread would suggest could do the job. Just curious who some of you like as an MC.
To be frank I could see JB doing the MC bit well.

I'm pretty sure that when Craig retires, or heaven forbid shuffles off this planet, they will cancel all finals, including the GF. This will also include the Anzac day clash between Essendon and Collingwood. (Which will be good for football because we won't have to put up with all the carry on about what those games mean to each of those teams, as distinct from the rest of the clubs who clearly do not have any emotional attachment to the day.)

He is so crucial to those days that if I am not mistaken they flew him over to Perth for the West Coast v Carlton SF just to ask everyone to "join the players umpires etc in standing for the national anthem".

Apparently there is no one over there capable of doing such a "complex" task.

MC's are very simply an annoyance, as a rule. Often lacking in talent and expertise in any area. Only good one is the pissed and belligerent uncle with a sordid past at a bad wedding.

Yes Tony is excellent at his work.

I was amazed that he got the gig though last year, as he must be well and truly getting on age wise. When I was a kid back in the 1950's, he used to do a Football show on a Saturday night, on 3UZ I think, called the London Stores Show.

Anyone else remember London Stores? Come to think of it anyone else remember the 1950's?

Well everyone on our table was in hysterics every time he did it. Sorry to hear you had such a miserable night. Craig Willis is king.

By the way GoKangas and Horace, Tony Charlton last year? You might want to check your memory bank. Craig Willis did it last year. Not sure who was the year before. I think we've had Stephen Phillips somewhere in between. Tony Charlton did it about 4 years ago. That was not a good night.

I do enjoy Colby's work as MC. Does a great job at it.

Agree! Colby was fantastic at the Inner Sanctum night as MC, although he probably just wanted to enjoy last night as a guest. So happy to still see Colby involved at the Club! :thumbsu:

Craig Willis is the third Syd Barker MC I've seen, and the best by a country mile. Thought he was excellent last night - utterly professional and respectful of both the Hall of Fame and the Syd Barker count. We were having a decent laugh about the Boomer thing on our table - turned what could have been a very dry count (remember it's 22 games with at least 6 names per game) into something quite funny, without being trivial or disrespectful.

Tony Charlton was funny when he did it - but not in a good way at all.

You're probably right. Just recall him doing it. Its a tough gig.
