That's fine, it's your opinion.

However Griffen is a best and fairest winning midfielder in a top four team. Deledio would want to play pretty well.

No better then he does currently, he is restricted to the backline and tagged all the time and still gets a very good number of high quality possessions.

Being released in to the midfield will up his numbers, give him more space and support to break tags. He doesnt need to improve at all, which is the reason he has a good backing in this poll even though he is up against quality like Griffen.

Winning best and fairests is always a good achievement but just for perspective in 2008 the runner up to Deledio was Shane Tuck, in 2009 it was Daniel Jackson. When Griffen won it there were six players who have made All Australian teams in the top ten, some are easier to win then others

In 2008 he beat Rucho who also came third in the Brownlow medal.
And of year people will remember how good he was in the midfield especially since he won't have to cop all the oppositions attention with the likes of Cotchin and Martin in there with him.
Laughable that people are speaking it's a fact Griffen us a better midfielder and Griffen is faster, especially the second one because most would agree that Deledio is the quicker player. Short memories.

It's laughable that people are speaking like it's fact that Deledio will play better than Griffen in the midfield, that Deledio can play more roles, etc.
In their careers, they have both played the same roles. HBF, and midfield. Doing the exact same thing in both. Both have also had stints in the forward line, both doing well. There is nothing either can do that the other can't.
Griffen has shown better form in the midfield in his career than Deledio has. Deledio was very easy to tag when he used to play midfield, and sometimes just couldn't handle it.

Example. A few years ago Picken was tagging Deledio. In the midfield. Deledio had one of his worst games ever, because Picken just shut him out of the game completely. This caused Deledio to get frustrated, and ended up jumper punching Picken after every tackle.
Could not break the tag.

Last year, in our game vs Carlton, Bryce Gibbs was playing a great game shutting down Griffen. First quarter I don't think Griff even touched the ball. But he didn't crack the sads, he worked harder, broke the tag, and ended up one of our better players in that game.

Agree with this to a certain extent, probably bias but I believe Deledio has shown more then Griffen in a variety of positions.

Not quite, Deledio won 2 B&Fs playing as a Midfielder, I think it was in the second half of the 2009 season that Deledio was statistically the best Midfielder in the game. He made the AA squad as a midfielder and has shown numerous times that he is more then capable of playing midfield.

And lol at you for using 1 example to try and separate Deledio and Griffen

Judd elbowed someone in the face because he was frustrated then the tag, therefore. Griffen > Judd

Bravo to Griffen but Deledio cops a heavy tag each week, and he seems to deal with it ok, although there was that one time.

God these Griffin vs Deledio threads are a load of circle jerk shit.'

In 2006 Big Footy preferred Griffin (by 16.5%):

In 2008 Big Footy preferred Griffin (by 3.5%):

In 2009 Big Footy preferred Deledio (by 5.5%)

And now in 2012 Big Footy is prefering Deledio (by 12% at time of posting)

Tigers like Deledio, Dogs like Griffin, neutrals are pretty evenly split. Both have some pretty exciting (and similar) attributes, both should be able to improve.

Reading some of the arguements on here trying to state that one is far ahead of the other makes me want to bash my head against the wall.

If I was a mod I'd lock, and card any muppet who started a 5th poll comparing these two.:p

I thought Griffen would have had kicked a lot more goals than Deledio so far in their careers considering he is such a damaging midfielder. Hmm must be Griffen's superior footskills that makes him a lot more damaging than Deledio.

Think Deledio to play more in the middle this season wil only heat this debate up even more.

IMO if we all had our picks again both clubs would have gone Franklin.

I agree, we are all obviously biased, so it's never going to go anywhere :p.

If my mod powers extended to being able to lock this thread, I probably would have at the start of it. There has been so many of them already, with the same comments being given, it's just going in a massive circle.

Edit: Those threads are damn funny to read. I recommend it to all :D

Picken absolutely nullified Deledio that day, and well done to him.

But people use that example as to why Deledio apparantly can't break a tag, as if it's the only time he was tagged. Being tagged out of one game doesn't mean you can't break a tag. I remember seeing Kane Johnson touch up Chris Judd in one game, kept him really quiet, but does that mean he can't break a tag? No.

Deledio has been tagged out of games before, but the way people go on about it you'd think he can't play if he has someone anywhere near him. It's just not true. When he played midfield for two years or so, he was probably tagged for about 50 odd games. He was really the only midfielder worth a tag. He was probably completely tagged out only 3-4 times in those 50ish games. Not every week was a BOG, but he was still able to play well. If he couldn't handle it at all, he wouldn't have the stats he did or win 2 best and fairests or make the AA squad.
