Lake has been a very good full back for a considerable time and not had the recognition he deserves. This is in part due to the attacking style of the team, which exposes him against fast leading forwards receiving good delivery on the rebound.

He has been the leading player at marking opposition kicks and relies on his reading of the play to beat apponents one on one, and is probably the supreme defender in winning those contests.

Mathew Knights decided he was too good for Essendon and thought the best tactic was to get him out of the play. Against Collingwood, Anthony was basically conceding he sould not beat Lake and was actually trying to prevent Brian from marking, rather than making a fair dinkum effort to win the footy.

At least St Kilda are likely to try and make him be a real defender.

He could be up against Michael Gardiner at FF next week if Kosi doesnt play .. He'll be made to earn his wage in that match up ..

Are you implying Gardiner is a better player than Koschitzke? Because he's not.

If Morris takes Riewoldt as he usually does and Williams takes Kozi/Gardiner, then Lake may be allowed to free wheel on the resting ruckman.

Will another repeat performance of his last month against the saints all but pencil him in for AA full back?

Opinions on a player who seems to be in red hot form. Reads the play well and marks anything within reach.

Lake is NOT the only in form FB, is he? Presti is having a sterling year and Magpie supporters can justifiably make the same claim about him as AA FB.

Scarlett is having another Scarlett year - conceding few goals and amassing a stack of possessions and launching attack after attack .

All have had good years, but Presti stops, not much more, has conceded a 5-6 less goals, while Lake has been stopping as well as being 8th in contested marks (only defender in top 25) while Presti has 1 CM for entire year, 1st at marks from opposition kicks, has double amount of both rebound and inside 50's, and about same 1%'s. I think Scarlett will get the FB spot as he has best of both worlds in being able to concede very few goals and attack with Lake in pocket or on bench.
