Brian Cook- Carlton to win at least one flag next 5 years

There are currently 22 premiership points and 12 ladder positions between Carlton and Collingwood, and it's only round 11...

I wonder what the difference will be once the thread 'plays out'?
Wasn't much difference in the end. Had a bruise free win against the eventual premiers , and finished the season well.
2 places behind Collingwood.
Going by the tone of your post , you clearly thought that the difference would extend , rather than close up.

You're quoting a post of mine, from 4 months ago, less than a week after Collingwood won the flag?

Wowee.

Brave person to only tip one flag with the list they have
true... But Injuries, form and close games will have decided the fates and outcomes too.

People said Gold coast in 2011 was gonna dominate the AFL .

and when GWS came in 2012, them along with Gold coast were gonna win flags between them each year from 2015-2024 with all the draft picks they had.

If Tom McCartin does his knee is Sydneys backline good enough to win the flag?

If Jesse Hogan does his knee is GWS's forward line good enough to win the flag?

If Darcy Moore does his knee is the Pies backline good enough to win the flag?

If Jeremy Cameron does his knee is the Cats forward line good enough to win the flag?

Same can be said for every team's key pillars... Just more trolling from old mate

Richmond won three flags with a list said to have an elite top five with little else to write home about.
Not saying Carlton are on the verge of three flags but you never know, and it's worth remembering that Port are aiming to win three flags in five years.

Mate, they're no where near it. Seriously, Carlton are only just working out how to consistently hang with the best teams in the competition. It'll take them at least 2 years before they finally work it all out. They haven't even experienced the constant heartache of finals failure. Just because they sneaked past Melbourne in last years finals with Gawn running around with a broken foot, does not mean they are going a step further.

GWS, Sydney, Melbourne, Collingwood will handle them in the finals. They have to hope they meet a Brisbane or Port Adelaide as they are likely to choke in a semi final etc.

Same things were being said about Richmond under Hardwick, remember when they shat the bed in finals in 2013/2014/2015 before the arse fell out of the joint in 2016?

Richmond had five good players - Deledio, Cotchin, Riewoldt, Rance and Martin.
Carlton have five good players - Curnow, McKay, Weitering, Walsh and Cripps.

The competition isn't any stronger now than it was back then either, because having 18 teams has diluted the talent pool - and it's only going to get worse with Tasmania coming.

My point is this Carlton side is filled with role players after their top five - very similar to the Richmond sides under Hardwick, and could pinch a flag if they finish top 4 and play non Vic sides at the MCG.

They still went through pain and suffering for years before rectifying things in 2017.
Carlton have only just made finals for the first time in a decade, too many teams been on the cusp and have the experience to counter them.

No ones path is the same, we could win zero flags, 1 flag or 3 flags, no one knows what will happen next 5 years.

Dees only had 2018 finals experience to call upon in 2021, didn’t seem to affect them too much. They did have some poor years particularly 2019 and narrowly missing finals both 2017 and 2020, but point still stands you don’t necessarily have to multiple finals to win a flag.

It's more having the right players, right experience levels and fit and firing at the right time of year.
