What about a predominately brown jumper at the back with gold numbers ,similar to Collingwood style home jumper.The patch is O.K but it is from the 70's .Lose the clash jumper and go back to the patch or 1/2 gold back for away games.

Agree the Gold back looked better for sure, but when they changed it had instant results ie a flag! So would be stupid to swap back straight away IMO. But a good idea I created myself would be to have the white square syle but instead of white insert a fluro yellow so it stands out more and adds some flair and colour!! Not sure if black or brown numbers would look better on the fluro yellow background.
edit: probably black would be best
and the fluro yellow doesnt have to be too bright, evan a light fluro yellow would look better than white. Looks out of place the white does!

So the verdict is clearly in favour of the white square with black numbers, thank god too.

The thing is I would consider the black on white number to be the retro style, as it was used in 60s and 70s when Don Scott was around. The classic yellow back with brown number was after the retro era, so in effect they are permentaly using retro style NOW. TBH I believe Hawthorn should have the right to alternate at their discretion anytime they wish. If they are going through a bad run and want to try something minor like going from black and white numb to gold and Brown to try and spark the side then fair game. Then they can only blame themselves,,not like atm where the AFL decides every bloody thing including guernseys and shorts. If a side has proud traditions they should be able to draw on this if they wish! Also believe the Hawk guernsey worn in the 1999 ansett cup when the won it was pretty good and could be kept up their sleeve, for when necessary!
edit: 1999 designed hawk looked better than the current hawk head shown above and used last few years!

The one on the right looks awesome - can you do with brown shorts? Maybe add some gold stripes down the bottom of the back.
